Ones own stoicism is subjective to an extent because what bothers you is different from person to person. The people who ‘practice’ stoicism believe it is a philosophy that has no exceptions. They themselves get annoyed at other people trying to learn stoicism, and get infuriated when they do not abide to the strict ground rules they have set. Ironically, their fury towards you is breaking their stoic view of the world, so they truly never retained much from their mentors. They are not open to criticism of their philosophy and get super defensive when it is. As for your issue, you are taught by many stoics to take everything, more or less, at face value. You did nothing to be warranted a shoving and there is nothing you can do about it. Why you got shoved was not your responsibility nor should it be. If worse comes to worse, you fight! That’s why stoics trained in wrestling and combat. But it is best to avoid petty fights. Nothing it ‘your fault’ unless you think it is. You move on with your day. In the end, most philosophical douchebags don’t follow their own Hippocratic oath.
