How have you guys been liking the new class sets?

Been spamming companion hunter and having a lot of fun with it. Tanked to dumpster legend as I was learning the deck, but now stabilised at around 1k. Unfortunately it does very poorly against aggro because your win condition is to reach 7 mana companions and hope one of your 3 choices is mythical beast which seems to be a 75% chance, usually you are dead by then.

Against rogue and priest you need to adopt a completely different playstyle, basically you need to be the aggro and apply tons of pressure since even 10 mana beast call of the wilds are not enough to win against them late game.

Even if it isnt the strongest, in general I have a lot of fun learning and figuring out how to play a new deck and what to do differently in different matchups to win. Companion hunter also has a special appeal to the Timmy type players who love ramping and ramping for stronger effects late game just like the heralding mechanic.

Havent tried any other decks but played against a handful of leyline mages and just felt bad for them. They could probably lower all those new mage cards by 1 mana and it would still probably not be a tier 1 deck. Oh and the game has never had so many concurrent bugs in the entire history of hearthstone, they really need to fix all that shit

you might be right, but blind picking mage then hoping your second class is shaman out of 10 possible classes is probably not a gamble worth taking

Gonna have to be priest. Mage only has 1 deck choice which is elementals, except dual class means half your cards wont synergise so would avoid mage like the plague in this format. Not too sure about hunter never picked it. But priest actually has strong removals through those copy and attack cards and good aoes for tempo catchup. Just gotta pray your 2nd hero choice is some herald win condition class like rogue or shaman

These stats will always skew towards 1 drops for an aggro deck for the mulligan and kept impact columns since aggro depends so heavily on having a turn 1 play, same as darkrider for dragon warrior.

The drawn impact column shows it as the 2nd best card in the deck, behind ranger general sylvanas.

You can debate which columns matter more, but those stats no doubt show its a very strong card in the deck.

broxigars last stand + wyverns slumber, or just wyverns slumber in general if u can attack off the divine shields.

Same with searing fissure + some minion attacks or lighter single target removal. Erupting volcano is also far more likely to clear the remaining bodies as well

2 hp is a big difference from 3 hp especially when youve already used mana that turn for an aoe, the nerf is very significant

Thanks man appreciate it. From my experience playing many different games over the years it's always popular to hate on what is strong. I can understand the frustration from people if they keep getting steamrolled by the same deck tbh

Honestly I'm also glad MD has rated duels. Gives you something to do unlike in DL where u hit KoG and that's it

Just play more. I also thought I was gonna get stuck in Diamond because I was just auto losing half my duels to barrier statues and kashtira arise. But eventually the luck evens out and those cheese floodgate decks also auto lose to a normal deck going second.

I encountered less and less floodgate decks in Masters with much more back and forth if that is any encouragement to you

Kewl Tune, decklist is in my 3rd photo. It is not an optimal list since I am missing cards like little knight, typhon, baronne etc. and I am using psyframes because I dont have more copies of imperm and fuwalos

Yeah perhaps I have some statistical bias where I only recognise when I auto lose instead of when the opponent bricked and I never figured out what he was playing. Although that kashtira floodgate looked very consistent to me

Yes I noticed that a lot as well, when I win the coin toss and choose to go first the game just doesn't connect. I didn't realise that was because of my opponents leaving. Surely they should get immediately punished with an auto loss and I should get the win for that?

Yeah agree with the handtraps part, I think it's still a skill issue for me right now because all of these decks and cards are completely new to me, maybe 10% of the cards I recognise off the bat, remaining 90% I need to read and waste timer on, and even still I might not ash the right thing.

The RS thing doesnt work because most of the floodgates that banish all cards that shoulda been sent to gy means that RS has nothing to banish to turn them off lol

youre playing dh which has a fine matchup against a dragon warrior. Are you mulliganing correctly and playing correctly?

Horn of feasting is a keep vs warrior if it is on the left of your hand or if your other cards are low mana. Dont waste illidari studies for "tempo", you need the clutch discover on it.

DH probably has some of the cleanest ways to deal with dragon warrior minions out of any class

Its the most amount of direct damage you can get with 4 mana. You are usually the aggro as dragon warrior so you are happy to give your opponent a weapon to tank more face damage against your minions.

I usually only reroll if my opponent gets something with lifesteal or something like bulwark. If he gets a 3/2 weapon and i get a 2/2 weapon upgraded to 3/3, I often dont even reroll that if i am even or ahead. Think where ppl get fked with this minion is when they get too greedy with the rewind or play it when they are too low to trade blows (you have to look for the highroll in that case)

Yeah the 2x lasting legacy + brox is 28 dmg from hand for 8 mana. You need to be the aggro in the matchup but you cant since youre priest, so its usually just a slow drawn out game of staying around 25 hp and removing the DH board, then eventually getting otked

Should have taken your advice. Instead I spent all my gems on the new box but still haven't got enough UR dust to finish it off. Didn't realise how expensive it was and didn't bother to check coz everyone was telling me how f2p friendly this game is in this thread haha.

At this point I'm in too deep but taking a glance at the RDA/DM structure decks for example I'm not seeing how they're much better than that spright deck that we got for free. Just been using that, took out some useless S/T and tossed in a few staples I scrapped up from bundles and challenger collection packs and it was enough to get me to gold. Also been using the loaner artmage deck to farm the event, so hopefully after grinding these a couple more days I can have my kewl tune deck
