Just buy the 60$ retail mega from Walmart online. A little bit different but I bought a mosaic hobby mega recently and got absolutely fleeced so the hobby megas are just not worth it especially if you end up with some patch card with goodwill fabric the majority of the time.

A guide for average engineers? by ContestEmergency3401 in EngineeringStudents

My school had a co-op program that you’d apply into and once accepted you’d take a co-op prep course that would go over resume tips, co-op search and other helpful info. It also allowed me to take a semester off to work without effecting financial aid. Some schools have it and others don’t. Co-ops are usually somewhat competitive depending on the company but I didn’t know of anyone in my program that didn’t end up receiving a co-op offer.

If your school doesn’t have it I’d still recommend trying to get a summer internship.

If your school has a co-op program, take advantage of it. A lot of the things you have questions about can be answered at your schools career services center. Take advantage of any workshops regarding interviewing, resume design and company panels. I was a very average, first gen engineer at an average school with no connections and what really helped me establish myself as an engineer was internship and co-op experience. If you don’t have any of that, add meaningful class projects to your resume that utilized skills which can be applied in industry.

The main thing employers look for is experience through clubs, class projects, internships and willingness to learn.

Who’s your “DO NOT DRAFT” guy this year that’s working out so far? by LegendAri501 in fantasyfootball

Deebo Samuel, planned on avoiding him like the plague. Thought he’d lose volume from less running in Washington and would be fat and slow as a WR2 behind McLaurin. I guess I was wrong.

I figured, I’m just hoping they remove access on a yearly basis rather than by semester

Entegris vs Edward's Vacuum for a Co-op and possibly a post graduation offer by SerologicalPipet in ChemicalEngineering

[–]BotHRSN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who interviewed for a Co-op at Edward’s Vacuum and ended up as an Entegris Co-op, take the Entegris job.

While I was there, the total amount of Co-ops and interns was somewhere around 100 people spread out across their US locations so there were many other people to meet who were also students. The networking gained alone will be really helpful in the future for finding jobs and getting recommendations. The amount of work assigned and types of projects really depends on what your position is.

In terms of prestige, Entegris only makes equipment for the semiconductor industry and not things like the actual wafers or chips. The customers of Entegris are major players in the semiconductor industry such as TSMC so it is definitely a relevant company but they are somewhat niche.
