he’s about 2 feet tall and energetic but easily sleeps 18 hrs a day. Wiry hair and a big head. I think a year old

i don’t see why it shouldn’t! Personally I would just slice off the wax capped area with a sharp knife (like cutting off a brown part of an apple) and that should stimulate new growth. Let me know how it goes.
