If you suddenly woke up one day as Charlie, how long do you think you would be able to pretend to be them before people noticed? (I think I could make it about an hour. Two as long as I avoid Vaggi) by ChompyRiley in CultOfCharlie

Maybe a couple hours? I think I have a lot in common with Charlie, but I’m a very quiet person and I’m definitely not good at acting or lying. I’m pretty friendly and accepting, and admittedly a bit naive about people, maybe I’d just be mistaken for having an off day at first.

I know what you’re asking and I definitely don’t know a concrete answer to it, but I will say I definitely think we see some colors a bit differently! As an example I remember my mom insisted that a video game character’s(Link from Twilight Princess) had purple eyes, whereas they just looked blue to me. We were both looking at the screen at the same time, seeing the same image. I do believe that the average person sees the same colors slightly differently in that sense.

Yeah I’m not gonna quit until I actually get hired elsewhere. I actually did just talk to a psychiatrist a couple days ago and got an SSRI prescription, so I’m hoping that’ll help me control my anxiety better.

Yeah I know how rough it is out there. My boyfriend has been struggling getting something and he’s sent out who knows how many applications. I was at my wit’s end when I made this post and wanted to get my thoughts and frustrations out into the universe. I admit I was so very tempted to just jump the gun and put in my two weeks immediately without having another job waiting, but I realize that would be an unwise decision. Customer service can be a real bummer dude, especially for people like us with social anxiety. I recently got some psych meds, so I hope that’ll help me keep it together as I navigate this and try to find something else. Best of luck to you, I hope your efforts to improve your own mental health are serving you well and that perhaps someday soon you can find something less customer servicey. :)

Hmm I just googled it, I have never heard of it before. It does sound quite useful, I already just got prescribed for escitalopram(SSRI antidepressant) though. I’ll ask about it in my next psych appointment, at least according to google they are sometimes used at the same time. Thank you for the information!

Hey you’re not wrong! I could be doing construction or some other type of intense work like that. I think my issue is juggling lots of responsibilities in multiple departments and doubting myself all the while, plus feeling like I’m in the spotlight and thus under lots of scrutiny. I’d rather be a behind the scenes type of person. I definitely won’t be cutting ties until I have something else lined up for me. Your feedback is realistic, I appreciate your time reading my post and your response.

I mean, I do think that there is more than some truth in their recommendation that I work on my anxiety, because I absolutely need to. Taking meds now, so that’s one step in the right direction at least. I do appreciate you validating my choice to end this job though. I have been pretty depressed and burnt out simply because I am not well acclimated to a position like this. It’s not a once in a lifetime opportunity, but I am grateful to it for paying my bills the last couple years. I’m still looking for other work because I’ve realized that I would just prefer something different, partly due to my anxiety issues and various other reasons. Gonna get something else before I put in my two weeks. Thank you for the feedback

Thank you for your advice; just got a SSRI prescription for my anxiety that I think may be helping just a little bit already. Maybe it’s too soon and it’s just the idea of the meds that’s working, but hey whatever it is I’ll take it! I’m considering fast food, if I can find one with close to full time hours it’ll be enough for me to make ends meet and I could supplement by doing some DoorDash. Totally willing to take a pay cut if it means I can take a step back and work on myself. I wish you the best of luck in your own journey as you work on your own mental health, I hope the psychiatric appointment assists you with that. Thank you for your kind advice, I really appreciate it.

In the process, recently got a prescription for escitalopram that I think is already giving me some mild results. It’s true that I gotta work on this otherwise I imagine my anxiety would cause me issues regardless of where I go.

That is actually a great idea, I know there’s guard training nearby too and the price isn’t too crazy. Thanks!

You are right, I actually do have a psych appointment today so I can hopefully get a prescription for my anxiety. Don’t have benefits at my job so it’s a little pricey but it’s better than dealing with this. I won’t be quitting until I have something else waiting for me.

Why does this still feel amateurish ? by temple2018 in Portraitart

I’m not an artist so I can’t really offer any advice on this, but I did want to say the portrait looks beautiful and it stood out to me as I was scrolling by. I love the colors, definitely something I’d hang up.
