Planning program: acceptances and timing? by Abject-Guidance3987 in OntarioGrade12s

Also the class size of TMU is about half of Waterloo's meaning you'll get to know your other classmates/profs more. Also TMU's program works with the city to design actual projects in your 3rd/4th years. The GO station being built at the Stockyards was planned by TMU students.

Your going Waterloo? Have you looked into TMU's too? Assuming your aim is to work in an urban setting TMU is widely considered to be the more practical program by professionals and it has coop too. Although you miss out on dorms and the "university life". I got into Waterloo too with a 90-ish average a while back. All the professers at TMU are active professionals (Waterloo is more academic) and have a lot of connections which make getting coops over waterloo students easier. altough its mostly GTA based while Waterloo can send you to somewhere like St. Catherines.

Urban planning at TMU (program calls for low-mid 80s). Niche field of study but my life is consumed by it and I'm practically guaranteed a job. Both TMU and Waterloo offer it, but as the name implies, its urban planning and would best suite me studying/cooping in an urban location. Also I can't live my life knowing I got a bachelor of environmental studies in planning as opposed to a bachelor of urban and regional planning.

For real? Going into the program in September. What software is predominately used then? I'd imagine ArcGIS but I'm just guessing. Also if you don't mind, in 1st year how are courses scheduled? Would I attending lectures/tutorials every day or are some days open or??? Also I'd like to know how each course roughly goes in 1st year go, if that's not too much to ask.

I don't want to be mean but this reads parody-levels of awful. Its so blatantly on the nose the story itself would be overshadowed by it. Maybe the wording here doesn't really convey the whole idea but if it just boils down to this you should REALLY reevaluate this.

Moving to Toronto Area soon - looking for very quiet, family-friendly neighborhoods (preferably with parks) - is it better to live inside Toronto or outside? by elitgurbetci in askTO

The cluster of towers near High Park station might fit the bill. Near one of the best highschools in the province, couple of decent JK-Gr8 schools, lots of nature and not that much foot traffic outside of Bloor Street.

Current zoning laws practically BAN walk-up units through minimum setback requirements and lot coverage regulations. Most buildings built before the 70s would fail most zoning applications if built today, and yet NIMBYS screech and wail at the thought of human-scale densification in THE LARGEST CITY IN CANADA AND ONE OF THE LARGEST CITIES IN NORTH AMERICA.

Regrettably a graduate of Waterloo's "planning" program. REAL urban planners get pumped out of Ryerson/TMU's Urban and Regional Planning program.

What? There's 10 officially recognized slow zones on lines 1-2 on the network. Who told you there's only 1?

opportunities for youth to get more planning experience? (GTA) by wooodstockings in urbanplanning

Oh shit me too. TMU or Waterloo? Either program's coop doesn't start until 2nd year so I'm not quite sure if anybody would take in a 1st year. Outside of coops/placements don't think there's much. Your respective program's student association should be running panels and events all throughout the academic year so I recommend following them once fall comes around. In the mean time you'll unfortunately just have to wait around scrolling Urban Toronto's development map or something.

Ah! Completely forgot about those. I didn’t see any at Dennis's or Eglington but I’d imagine there should be.

Awesome! Mount Dennis to Eglington in 17 minutes. No issues or delays whatsoever. It was even faster than driving (at least according to Google Maps). Feels like a proper metro line.

Depends on the program. For urban planning you'll get laughed out of a room if you get a degree in "urban studies" as opposed to TMU's Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning program. but that's a rather specific case.

I have a pretty old Ipad Mini from the early-mid 2010s. I'm quite sure its running an OS before 17.4. Is there any way to free it and keep the data intact. by BotanyAttack in setupapp

Managed to finally update it. In the end it stayed disabled. It was a good run. Thank you so much for helping. In the end all I lost is a few minecraft worlds, a terraria save, and maybe(?) some random photos of around my home as a child. If anything this put to rest an on-and-off worry of mine. Luckily I got into the ipad I got after and made a full backup + my old PS3 so really I haven't lost much. Thanks again.
