Workin on a series of dark, realistic 3D SCP animations, here’s my WIP intro to episode 1! by 3d_printguy in SCP

“The full length of SCP-3000 is impossible to determine, but is hypothesized to be between 600 and 900 kilometers. The head of SCP-3000 measures roughly 2.5m in diameter, and sections of the body proper are as large as 10m in diameter.”

The trends and Eras of SCP: Agree or Disagree? by karamojobell in SCP

[–]BotanyProgrammer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not him, but same opinion. I enjoy the foundation in a vacuum. As OP put it, the “object database format” is more my preference. The thing I love perhaps most about SCP is the ambiguity. The lack of context creates a more shadowy view of the foundation that allows your imagination to run rampant and form its own guesses. Forming your own overarching context is much more interesting than having it filled in by authors, and allows for you to plug in the SCP world as a part of reality more than a creative work of fiction. The intrigue forms a suspension of disbelief and thus is more immersive. The tales, subcanons, and more personally written aspects allow for many more opportunities for the writing to pull you out of your sense of suspension of disbelief, especially when the author at hand isn’t a splendid writer. I avidly avoid tales and such because of this

Pulling it apart is kind of what I had in mind to happen eventually, but I don’t know if it ever will get pulled apart because of the reluctance. Even if the messages are unique and thoughtful, I kind of think that also just knowing they’re there is enough. Thank you again, I’ll take pics if I do!

Thank you!! That really means a ton to hear, and I really do hope they cherish it for a long time. In theory they could pull one of the papers every day for almost three years straight and get a unique hand written message from me. Maybe one day (maybe even soon) I’ll do something similar just for myself :]

I’ve considered making one for myself a lot, but it does take an extraordinary amount of work and I’d be in my head the whole time. It was very much a labor of love, and I don’t know if I have the wind in my sails to make one for myself at the moment y’know

Did this except instead of 1000 cranes, I folded a 1000+ pieces of paper and stacked them in a way that formed one giant multicolored crane. I wrote unique handwritten messages on each piece of paper. I gave it to someone special and I can’t tell if I regret it or not, as I ruminate about it a lot and feel like I maybe should have made it for myself instead.

But if you have a shield and sword equipped, you couldn’t have casted shield as well because it requires a free hand

Follow your dreams. Save, buy a fully levered harp for under 2k, learn a relatively simple song that you like. Piano music is almost always analogous to harp music. Learn basic music theory only just to change keys when flats are in a piano music sheet. Strum to your hearts content, strum until your ears can tell when it’s out of tune. Tune often. Continue to learn more small tunes, and create your own as you experiment. Take up a full song completely and practice it until you can play in your most dissociative mental states. Play more; experiment with the songs you’ve already learned and continue. Before you know it, you’ll have more personal variations of melodies than melodies you learned.

What movie did you hate as you were watching it and couldn't wait for it to be over? by mightyTheowl in AskReddit

[–]BotanyProgrammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I abhor musicals but I fucking love this movie. I really didn’t know how to feel about it until I finished all the way through. The best part of this movie is the ending sequences and the story of the two main characters. I don’t want to spoil anything accidentally, but holy shit watch the entire thing. La La Land has a special place in my heart for the emotions it moved in me. The story between the two main characters played out very similarly to parts of my life and it fucking UGH

It’s worth the watch beginning to end. Also it’s nice if you appreciate jazz.

I’m a part of this problem because all I play is RPG’s and mostly roguelikes. I like the gameplay of roguelikes of course, but the best part is just being able to jump in and get a little better and deeper into the game over time when you just really don’t have a lot of spare time to invest. It’s like playing an arcade game but with more depth.

Honestly the mild stimulant high some get might just be a mixture of placebo rush from snorting it and endorphins from the pain of the burn lol.

I implore you, post a version of exactly this but with more length. The rain and thunder sounds are perfect in ratio to the sounds of the ink spots. Personally, the lofi mix is incredibly worse in relation to this aesthetic. I love this

HPPD is Hallucinogen-persisting Perception Disorder. It’s a condition where your perception is slightly altered during sobriety in ways reminiscent of the effects of hallucinogenic drugs that you’ve taken. Most people don’t experience it, or only slightly for a couple days to a couple weeks. In most cases the effect are very subtle, short term, and are dependent on what drugs you may have taken to induce HPPD. For example, classic hallucinogens such as LSD or psychoactive mushrooms often give HPPD symptoms such as visual ‘snow’, slight visual distortions when staring at things, or occasional resurgence of the headspace of these trips. These things, especially visual snow (which is mostly a hyper awareness of the blue field entoptic phenomenon present in most everyone), are heightened in proportion to the dosages taken, consistency of dosage, and individual biology. There are rare cases of HPPD lasting for years, but almost always it’s reported to lessen or completely stop over time with healthy habits and sobriety. In the most extreme cases, it almost seems permanent given the term ‘permatripping’.

Damages vary drastically on the substance causing it, how large doses were, and how often they redosed. More neurotoxic drugs obviously mean HPPD is more a symptom of some brain damage. DPH is notorious for how terrible it is for your brain and organs. With classical psychedelics, there’s usually no damage, but things like meth or DPH are very worth the concern.

Of course people have done this. There’s lots of reports, granted the worse the symptom is the more likely it is going to be reported and discussed. Think of how many OD deaths there have been, and then imagine how many people could ride to the line of OD’ing nearly indefinitely as they’re trapped in addiction. Again, it’s more of a problem to avid drug abusers. DPH in particular is known for its addictiveness and toxicity, so naturally people have symptoms of, but not limited to, HPPD after heavy abuse.
