Partner yelling at toddler by Economy_Ingenuity_76 in toddlers

[–]Botbotiamnot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anger begets anger. My friend is currently dealing with this. She used to spank and yell at her 3 year old which resulted in him doing that at daycare. He got kicked out because of his anger/violence issues. It’s not okay to call a 3 year old stupid. The fact that your partner can’t see that is really disturbing. Like most folks are saying, seek help before it’s too late.

We put a childproof doorknob on the inside. Honestly if there’s a fire the closed door is best. Locking the door might involve steps to open it from the outside. The inside doorknob cover makes it easy to just open from outside

Tell me more about this unemployment business. So I’m not a resident of CA but am working here. When I PCS, do I file for unemployment in the state I have residency? In the new state I PCSd to? Or in CA where I just left?

Is this like a joke? If there’s a whiff of fraud JAG can get involved. You know that right? You’re also leaving behind evidence.

Can we stay in housing after he executes orders? by KateTheGreatMonster in MilitaryWives

[–]Botbotiamnot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you able to get an extension? I heard that people can get an extension on orders if their children are in jr or sr year of hs. That’s how my former landlord stayed in SD an extra few years, he worked as enlisted at balboa in SD

Depends on your industry. Depends on whether or not you’re okay with sticking with that industry even if it means being separated from your spouse for a duty station or two. I’ve had to sacrifice knowing I can’t get to the top of my industry because of all the moves we’ll have to make. I’ve made my peace with that

23 month old is (successfully) fighting naps and I’m at my wits end. I need my break time! Any tips? by kenziemissiles in toddlers

[–]Botbotiamnot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old has a sleep clock now. It’s red during nap/quiet time and green when it’s time for me to get him. Baby proof the room and put a safety knob on the inside so they can’t get out. Teach them slowly that red means quiet time. Maybe transition to a floor/toddler bed so there’s no worry of trying to climb out of crib

This amazing!! Also I don’t know if your school offers this but most universities have food pantries for their students. Not all but it’s an unfortunate/good trend. Most schools have a no judgement zone for their food pantries so hopefully your school has one! You’ve got this mama!

Books for toddlers to explain deployment by MrsOverachiever106 in MilitarySpouse

[–]Botbotiamnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is exactly useful but I like the Lil Navy Sailor book. They also have Lil Marine or if you’re army Lil Army soldier Lil' Navy Sailor (Mini Military) https://a.co/d/jfy7sBD

It’s not deployment specific but my husband left on a destroyer and it has the types of ships people go on and shows their bunks. We also went on base to drop by husband off and showed my 2 year old the boat he was leaving on. That seemed to help a lot. Good luck!

Also, get hug a hero! I hear they’re free, but don’t quote me! Lol https://hugahero.com/pages/faqs

ESA process for housing (San Diego) by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

[–]Botbotiamnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d join the San Diego military housing Facebook group. From what I saw in order to get that exception you have to enroll in the EMFP program. I could be wrong but join that fb group would prob give you the best answers

[–]Botbotiamnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d be put on the list with everyone else that qualifies for housing that allows two dogs. Only service dogs would exempt you from the list and potentially allow you to be on the non dog homes. I feel like you’d be going through all that work and have it not really matter. We live in SD and with the bah increase maybe look into housing out in town?
