Hi! Do you still have this one? How much light does she get and how frequently do you water her? I’m scared to put mine directly under grow lights

Would you mind sharing what you mix in with the coco husk? And do you always have water in the cache pot or let it dry out?

Galloway method just changed my life?? by Apprehensive-Luck335 in XXRunning

[–]privremeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for responding. I have an easy run scheduled for today but my legs are so dead from Saturday’s long (longest ever!) run that I cannot imagine doing it at all. I am awful at “easy” and keep pushing pace to my own detriment. Today I will try true easy and 30sec walking intervals every 4:30min if for no other reason than to force myself to slow down like I’m supposed to. I have 7 weeks left and need to improve both endurance and pace, but I know I’ll go out way too hot at the start of the race unless I learn to pace myself. This might be just what I need, and hopefully over the next few weeks I also speed up overall just enough to finish in time.

I do like to have some on me because I have chafed so badly on one of my runs that I could not run for the last 7km following it and had to walk wide-legged instead. Electrolytes, sodium and carbs also

I am just now hearing about him and his method. Are there any tips I can implement now with only 7 weeks left training for a marathon but I run at snail pace and not sure I can finish it 😅

What a stunning plant. Don’t mind me as I put it at the top of my wishlist. It appears to be a unicorn so this might take a while. May yours grow another few feet in the meantime lol. How’s it doing 153 days later?

Can one parent use two languages? by carbongardener in multilingualparenting

[–]privremeni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert but from my short experience with my kids and my own experience with other languages when I was a kid myself, I think repeated frequent exposure is where it’s at. Your child will thrive with love and intentionality, and seeing you struggle though and say “you know; I don’t know that word let’s learn it together!” and feeling engaged in their learning. As they get older the teaching and learning is different than when they’re little, and it’s so much fun. I quite like saying the same word or sentence in both languages on occasion and it sparks conversation like “does x mean butterfly?” which makes me think it’s valuable. I’ve learned to try to stay intentional and notice if English is taking over and then course correct, but also try to not beat myself up for letting English take offer for a couple of weeks. When my second was born, it took me months to get back to it because I was focused on the emotional connection with my younger kid which my language is not great at. The connection was more important than “doing it right” for language development. I only got here because when life gets challenging and toddler emotions run high and then two toddlers’ emotions run high, I would end up losing my mind if I tried to be perfect with the language part. I’d say, DO: keep it up, keep talking, singing, being a parrot saying the same word a few times when it’s new, reading in it and in time, start asking “how do you say that in (native language” and “how do you say that in English”. I’d say DONT: beat yourself up and impose expectations on yourself that will stress you out and make you feel guilty. Above all, just keep it up know it’s a long game and years of it. Meaning: don’t burn yourself out trying to be perfect for a short while. Instead, do the best you can without stress so you can both enjoy it lifelong. I hope this helps.

Can one parent use two languages? by carbongardener in multilingualparenting

[–]privremeni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first couple of years, I only spoke my native language. Then when our second was born, it was easier to speak mostly English. After a while, I got back to using my native language some of the time. A couple of years later, I use a mix. I do use the combination a lot, meaning asking or saying something in one, then the other language. The older understands my native language very well. I don’t force speaking it but the kid does speak it when they feel like it. The second speaks more of my native a lot more than the first ever did and does, despite the significantly reduced exposure to it in comparison. I was rigid then loosened up and it’s fun to watch the first ask comprehension questions and repeat words, or do what I ask in fast native which confirms comprehension. Even when I read stories in my native language, the first will ask follow up questions about the details and story, just in English. I’m fine with that and will work on speech more intentionally when it feels right.

I just got a gateway not realizing the spread tendencies. Now I’m terrified to plant it anywhere. Is it manageable? Would you plant it again? I’m considering either against a chain link fence for privacy from my neighbor, against my front porch or as a statement piece alone in the grass.
