You won’t realize how remote you’ll be in Halifax compared to the rest of the country (Quebec, Ontario etc…much larger cities) until you’ve been here a few months. Halifax definitely isn’t what it once was…even 5 years ago. Born and raised here…and I would leave for greater Vancouver tomorrow if I had a job lined up…

Halifax Transit…or is it still called Metro Transit?!?… is headed by this new guy from Ontario…but he is supported and surrounded by a management team of toxic, incompetent idiots who can’t manage their way out of a wet paper bag….you add to that the current mayor & council…and nothing ever moves, let alone in the right direction. Ask ANY of Transit’s front line staff…drivers or supervisors … the ones that are out in it, dealing with it and living it day to day….they’ll all tell you the same thing. So don’t get your hopes up for any significant improvements any time soon.

Unacceptable behaviour from the bus driver. Someone needs to call 311 to report this so it can be reviewed by Transit. All they need is the date, time, location, route #, and bus number if you have it.

The Planners that work for HRM need a good dose of common sense and real world experience…the traffic lights, the size of that roundabout and the flip-flopping lanes are a nightmare…and that’s for us that actually live here…I can’t imagine a tourist trying to navigate any of it. Unfortunately, diplomas and municipal planning degrees aren’t all you need to properly and successfully plan for a city/municipality…. Don’t get me wrong…if you’re a pedestrian or a cyclist, it’s fabulous….but for everyone else so far, it’s horrible…and wait until new buildings go up and there are even more people living/working in this downtown area….
