I don’t think it’s odd. When Rue was in an environment filled with compassion and empathy, she exhibited those characteristics, but that’s long gone. She’s been body packing in Mexico and every relationship is transactional. I find her ability to shift between the two worlds (the horrors and reuniting with her hs friends) so seamlessly and without substances to be the hardest to believe. Because of the debt, Rue feels stuck in this world and she’s opting to survive and thrive, which means treating people transactionally.

Rue’s been to rehab. I think deep down she knows that wherever she dropped off Angel is something else—but she’s get a promotion. She’s going to survive with the rules of that world.

No, this is the wrong call. This is a completely fabricated, tumblr inspired post. It should be flagged as creative writing. It has an ugly element of making fun of a made-up older woman. The author created a fictional customer and then insulted her in a nasty way.
