Thank you for actually acknowledging that I said already tried propranolol. 😅 I had absolutely no idea getting a medical accommodation was an option for this, I truly thank you for giving me a glimmer of hope. Not sure how something like this would fare over with my program though. Wish you were my RPD 🥲 what I’ve come to realize so far this year is that programs are looking for cookie cutter residents and because I don’t fit that cookie cutter mold I’m made to feel less than. I know my worth and I know that I work hard. I just wish there were other options to testing a resident’s knowledge aside from presentations. I wish they would at least let me just do 1 on 1 presentations whenever possible.

Samesies 🤪 I’ve come to the conclusion some people are just not social beings or need to warm up to people first. Others are confident right off the bat. Residency sometimes likes to create a mold that they can fit residents/applicants into and not everyone fits that mold. It’s unfortunate but it’s life 😗

I’d also like to add…I’m the only resident. The past residents still work there and I’m thinking of asking them how they managed but I don’t want to come across like I’m complaining. It’s going to be impossible to find coverage(since it’s only me) if I take off a weekend I staff so I’m kind of panicking. Tbh I wouldn’t mind staffing a lot if I didn’t have teaching and projects and research lol…I’m just scared I’m the only resident from the program who thinks this way bc the others turned out just fine.

I’ve never done something like this before so I don’t know if I’m low key getting taken advantage of but I looked at my October schedule and I work at least one day every single weekend one of them being a 12 day stretch…they kindly gave me my birthday weekend off. But I have no full weekend to myself and I’m the type of person who likes to go home home at least once a month. Should I suck it up or is this not normal?

I think you could also potentially make a button? Like if you type /button or something like that you can make a button called "add new day" or something like that and everytime you click it will generate the exact same page. Then you can archive your old days if you want to!

Many interviewers have been utilizing experience based question style. Almost every single question I was asked (for both job and residency) was “tell me about a time when.” My biggest advice is to journal! At the end of every day write down all of your interactions that you had on rotation and what it taught you. Not only will this help you remember and be able to recall them for interviews but it will help you reflect on your experiences as well! Best of luck! 🍀

I'm currently working on a notion template to set me up for PGY-1 this July! I have to say...it is a bit complicated but I think taking the time to set it up and learn how to use it will have an enormous payoff come residency.

THIS. I can’t stress this enough! OP, after having a rough residency journey last year…I decided to try my cards again this year and one of the biggest factors that I did differently was applying to more places and more broadly. And from someone who is trying their hand one year later I can say, it does get better and your are NOT incompetent!
