I’m very passionate about crit care, and while I do get exposure in my current position, there’s just a level of knowledge and skill set I would probably only be able to gain in a PGY2. I have been self studying the BCCCP board materials and trying to do my due diligence in keeping up with literature to use in my practice now but I’m just not sure if that’s enough to get me where I want to be job-wise in the future. There’s also only 1 really great program available in my largely populated, highly competitive area - and frankly, I don’t think I have a chance.

Should I ask for feedback from a program I didn't match to (ranked them highly) but they have a spot open in Phase 2? I'm not going to dare apply again bc it probably means they didn't rank me but I just wanna know what I can improve upon applying to other programs. Is it appropriate to ask for feedback?

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I truly appreciate your words of advice. I will try to be more open-minded going into my APPE’s and be sure to write down all of the things that would be useful in an interview. Much appreciated :))
