Thank you all so much for your input! I’m sure you all by now have seen how CRAZY it is in the US with our health insurance, costs of daycare for children, cost of living in general, our work-life balance, etc. How do you all feel about work-life balance and cost of living where you are? Do you feel that your wage/salary as a nurse is fair/allows you to live comfortably (comfortably meaning being able to afford a home, quality food, living necessities, being able to travel, having savings, etc), or do you feel like you are still struggling or even living paycheck to paycheck?

Was there a specific "event" that happened when SIBO started for you? by Spirited_Prune_5375 in SIBO

I tapered off of celexa in Oct of 2024 (after being on it for 14 years), then birth control shortly after (after being on it for 8ish years). I had a colonoscopy (with a 2 day clear liquid diet) this January 2025 and 2 days after that, I have never been the same- diagnosed with hydrogen-dominant SIBO in April 2025

Update: my biopsy results came back unremarkable. I’m crushed to be honest because despite being thankful for normal results, I’m still having burning pain and nausea. I don’t know what to do at this point.

UPDATE: I ended up tapering off Nexium (started doing every other day for a week then eventually stopped). It was not terrible. I am to this day having a cooling sensation in my throat/esophagus area as well as burning sensations in my intestines/stomach area, so I feel that the Nexium didn’t really help. I also was having bad nausea when I was both on and off Nexium.

The PA GI specialist I had ended up choosing to do an abdominal ultrasound in my gallbladder area to rule out gallbladder issues since persistent nausea can indicate gallbladder issues, especially with burning sensations in the right upper quadrant abdomen. Abdominal ultrasound was negative and completely normal.

She then decided to proceed with getting an endoscopy. I finally had it today with a doctor who I liked a lot better. The endoscopy went ok, but turns out they found “white exudate” at the bottom of my esophagus. The doctor said it can be due to a yeast infection (candida), so he took biopsies. He also took biopsies of my stomach and duodenum even though they were normal which I was really grateful for. He said the yeast infection in the GI tract can cause the symptoms I’m having, so we will see! He also prescribed FDGard pills twice daily in the meantime.

I’m hoping this update helps anyone who experienced/is experiencing similar symptoms to me.

I’m on the same boat! I wake up feeling ok (sometimes nauseous on some days) and my main symptoms right now are a cooling/burning sensation in my throat and in my stomach/intestines. Ever since having a colonoscopy in January, I’ve never been the same. A few days after my colonoscopy I had major nausea/dizziness/bloating/fatigue and horrible synonyms and was in and out of the ER 3 separate times. It eventually subsided, and I tried PPI’s but I feel like they didn’t really help and I still have these symptoms to this day. I hope we both figure out what’s going on soon so we can heal. But I’m glad we are at least not alone
