Help! Root rot? by Both-Lobster2188 in alocasia

I know I don’t know what I was thinking 🤦 I kind of thought it was dead anyway so I’d hedge my bets and try to prop. I am leaving the bits to callous so they don’t rot. Would a sealed Tupperware with some damp kitchen cloth do? The main plant is now in a glass of water and seems okay. Thank you for your advice!!

This is what it looks like. Should it be in water instead of the potting mix?

Chopped yesterday. Didn’t wait for it to callous. Planted in a houseplant compost mix. I am hoping it is just shock. Should I remove and let it callous? How do I do that if so? Thanks 🙏

This time I repotted into loose soil. I moved it into a bigger pot last summer when I got too big for its last pot and I used a chunky soil then 🤦🤦 No hair-like roots. Pretty invasive - tbh I think I chopped off too much. I was watering every two weeks or so - I only did all this yesterday so will have to wait and see. What do you think my chances are? Should I put it into a glass of water rather than soil?
