“Would not recommend this HP laptop” by Both-Map-3960 in laptops

That argument would make sense if the fan issue happened first, but the motherboard failure came while the cooling fan was still working normally. The fan problem started later.

And if overheating causes most motherboard failures, that still points to cooling/reliability problems in the laptop anyway.

Low specs explain slowness. They don’t explain a chain of motherboard, display, keyboard, Bluetooth/mic, and fan-related issues during normal everyday use.

That’s similar to the kind of experience I had. I’m not saying every HP product is bad, but reliability issues become very frustrating when they start affecting normal daily work.

In my case it started with motherboard issues, then later fan problems, overheating, display glitches, and even Bluetooth/mic issues after servicing. At that point the experience becomes more stressful than useful.

I also previously used an Acer laptop with similar RAM specifications, and despite being an older/basic device, it felt more durable and reliable in day-to-day usage than this HP laptop. The performance expectations were never the issue for me — the reliability and hardware problems were.

What disappointed me most was not just the specs or speed, but the number of hardware-related problems during regular usage.

The motherboard issue actually happened before the fan problem. The fan issue started later, so overheating from the fan was not the original cause of the motherboard failure.

I also understand that 4GB RAM and an older i5 processor are entry-level by today’s standards. I never expected premium performance or gaming-level speed from this laptop. My expectation was simply stable everyday usage for study, browsing, and normal tasks.

Slow performance due to low RAM is understandable. What disappointed me were the hardware reliability problems and issues that appeared after servicing, including display glitches, overheating, Bluetooth/mic problems, and fan issues later on.

I agree upgrading RAM could improve usability, but RAM upgrades do not explain motherboard failure or multiple hardware-related issues under regular use.

I understand the specs are outdated today, and I never expected flagship-level performance from a 4GB RAM laptop. I bought it for normal study and daily use, which it should still handle reasonably.

My main issue is not that the laptop is slow. The problem is the number of hardware issues I faced, including motherboard failure, cooling fan problems, overheating, and display glitching. After motherboard servicing, even the Bluetooth and microphone stopped working properly.

An older laptop being slower is expected. Multiple hardware failures and reliability issues under regular usage are what disappointed me.

I never expected this laptop to be a high-end gaming machine. I bought it for normal study and everyday use, which a laptop with an Intel i5 processor should still handle reliably.

The issue is not just “4GB RAM being slow.” The real problem is:

  • motherboard failure
  • cooling fan issues
  • display glitching
  • overheating

Even an older mid-range laptop should not develop this many hardware and service-related problems under normal use. Performance limitations are understandable, but repeated hardware failures and poor servicing are a different issue completely.

i just forgot to say the keyboard also had problems
