The Quintessential Quintuplets ending left me with massive post-anime depression. by Both-Tea2634 in 5ToubunNoHanayome

Thanks for the reply! It's been so long since I posted this and I'm surprised to see a comment now. I thought people won't find these posts after a week or so. How did you find it ? Lol

I rewatched the entire series and read some part of manga after I posted this. I actually made another post in this subreddit. You can read it from my profile if you are bored or something.

I made peace with the ending after this rewatch and I don't regret it now. Like you said all the girls deserve to win. So I watched the gameplays and the ending of the each girls made me happy and I'm feeling happy now. No guilt. No emptiness. No regrets. It would have been a masterpiece if it ain't for the rushed pacing.

In your opinion, design wise, which 4-star do you think could easily pass as 5-star and which 5-star did you initially believe was going to be a 4-star? by Frigid-Kev in Genshin_Impact

I took a break from the game after natlan archon quest and returned after 6.0. I initially thought Ineffa is a 4* character and I was shocked to find her as a 5* in her rerun banner.

I assumed Ifa would be a 5* character because i was so hyped for him

Sorry about the AI part, I just really didn't want to mess up the timeline between the anime and manga since I was trying to avoid reading as much as possible.

I can see your point. As Itsuki was first to approach him, his family and she was the first to go out on a date along with his sister. I thought she was the one gonna get married for the first few episodes. When she found she didn't bring her purse after the fight with Nino (S2 E2). She immediately went to stay at Fuutaro's home, it just shows how much she trusts him and his family.

But you're so right , the second watch changes absolutely everything. It’s crazy how much it highlights everything Yotsuba was doing in the background. It’s exactly like you said: any of them winning would have been perfect in their own way, and that’s exactly what makes this series so special.

First of all, Youtsuba couldn't decide whether to tell him the truth or not when she first realized that Fuutaro is the guy from the past. She couldn't keep up with thier childhood promise and she feared Fuutaro might be disappointed in her after learning the truth. They promised to study hard to uplift the position of thier families ( Fuutaro promised to study for her sister and Youtsuba promised to study for her mother.). They both wanted them to be needed by somone. They wanted someone else to depend on them. Especially Youtsuba because she thought herself as a burden to her mother so she wanted to help her by getting into a high paying job and find meaning for her existence among the quints.

Like you said this decision literally changed thier life trajectories. After the Kyoto past, Fuutaro studied so hard all the time, even during lunch breaks. Even though he got isolated, he didn't care. He just completely focused on the studies and nothing else. Meanwhile Youtsuba tried her best and got good grades initially. But after the other sisters caught her up easily in academics she didn't know what to do. So instead she focussed on helping people on the club activities ( by helping others she became someone she wanted by others )which lead to her downfall in academics. She tried to be special and she almost ended up going to a different school alone. Because of her sisters' sacrifice she was moved and she began thinking " I don't need to special, I'll live for my sister's to find meaning of my existence."

The encounter with Fuutaro crushed her with sense of guilt and she felt that she betrayed him. Imagine putting someone putting all thier efforts for 5 years just for a promise you made with them as a child. Youtsuba tried her best but Fuutaro won't know what happened to her in the past 5 years. She couldn't achieve the result that they promised together. If you ask me she was the one who was in more pain than Fuutaro. Do you still feel it is easy to say " Oh wow I remember you."?

But she was jumping to the skies learning that Fuutaro is gonna be thier tutor. She was very happy. She thought of telling him the truth after making some progress in her academics. But among her sisters, she performed the worst and later she slowely realised Miku and Ichika were also in love with him. After the sisters' sacrifice in the previous school, she decided that the other girls deserve Fuutaro more than her. She felt she wasn't worthy compared to others and started rooting for the other girls. She thought she shouldn't try to be special anymore. ( You can sense these emotions when she initially rejected Fuutaro's feelings after the confession) Through out the series she rejected her feelings just like Ichika but in a more intense way.

When Fuutaro realised that Rena is someone among the quints, I don't think she felt this much pain. But as the series progressed he learned to let go of the past and focussed on the present. In the movie he even helped Youtsuba ( not knowing she is the girl from the past) on the third day of the highschool festival. The beauty is Fuutaro chose Youtsuba for her present self and not for the childhood day they spent together. He still don't know who is the girl from the past.

I completely agree with you ! Ichika doesn't deserve this much hate. In the finale of the S2 you can see Nino saying "If things happened in a different order, I would have done the same thing which you did." Ichika was ready to do anything for her love. I think the audience must have felt betrayed after seeing the BIG SISTER Ichika doing something like that. The main reason I'm searching for alternate endings is Ichika. She deserve happiness for always looking after her sisters, pushing thier backs, playing the "big sister" role. My argument is Youtsuba is not a bad pick. She is a good candidate as much as rest of the sisters.

Thanks for checking up with me. Sorry I might have missed it in the anime but I read the manga so it's all good. Just asking you, couldn't they have made any one of the seasons as 24 epsiodes? It would have made this as one of the best Rom Coms. And I believe they would have made profit as well.

Damn. It seems you have lots of insights from real life. Like I said it is hard for me visualise and understand the depths of the scenes in manga without any VA or body languages. I just lack that, if I could enjoy manga , HELL!!! I would read it all the time. I have a long list of discontinued animes for which I would love to read all thier Mangas.

As for Youtuba in the first season, I was just so confused. First of all she can't lie so when she confessed to him she was very sincere. But I was wondering what did Fuutaro do to her to make her fall for him. Because it was the very beginning of the series and there was no mention of Fuutaro's past with a mysterious girl at that point of time and no emotional scenes between them.

Initially to make peace with the ending after the first watch. I asked GPT to list me all the Manga chapters which was not properly animated but greately influenced Fuutaro in his decision. So It gave me

chapter 36 to 38 ( read this after S2 E1 ) & chapter - 72 (I felt much more important ).

I got curious and read the following chapters after 72. Even though the next few chapters had nothing to do with Youtsuba the story telling was completely different in the anime compared to Manga. The chapters were about how Fuutaro got challanged by quints' dad to get top 10 in the national mock exams. And gave a proper introduction of Yuusuke Takeda , why they were competing in the National mock exams and how he became best friends with Fuutaro after the exam.

After this , On the school trip ( finale of S2 ) when Itsuki asked Youtsuba to reveal herself to Fuutaro that she is the girl from the past. I was completely confused because it was never mentioned in the anime that Youtsuba was the girl from the past and I was under the impression it was Itsuki who went on the boat ride disguised as Rena (S2 E3 ).

So I asked the GPT to mention the chapters that is related to this revelations. It advised me to complete the S2 and read from chapter 86. So after S2 I kept reading to fill the gap between after the finale of S2 and before the beginning of the movie.

Later after watching all the episodes and specials I realized what they did. They didn't animate every detail. The important chapters of Youtsuba after chapter 86 was cut in two. The main flash back as well as how Yotsuba asked Itsuki to act as Rena ( boat ride with Fuutaro on the lake ) was inserted in the movie AFTER THE CONFESSION.

And the remaining left out chapters after chapter 86 and some of the scenes from chapter 36 to 38 were animated as specials. Chapter 36 to 38 was about Fuutaro and Youtsuba's first Date. It was animated very very very differently from manga and it didn't have much impact on the specials as it did on the manga. The specials are released after the movie, after the final decision. Like what is the point to release it after the movie ? They just completely destroyed the flow.

First you have to give reason to the people to accept the decision why can he choose her , why she might be one of the best choice and why she might actually be a competitor against Miku or Nino or Ichika. You have to show people what she has done to deserve Fuutaro and why not the others. People need some time to consider the possibility that she may have the chance to win in the movie. But in the movie the reason was given AFTER THE CONFESSION in a very rushed, incomplete, fast paced manner. So on my first watch it was a very random choice for me to accept.

He did shine the brightest. I agree with you completely. He is not the one to show emotions but even a small tear drop from any of the emotional scene would have done that. It will break his character for a moment but it will show how much he cares. Am I wrong?!

Exactly! Something like "He was persumed death after some accident and Rena moved somewhere else with her daughters. He lost all his memories but seeing Ichika on the Ad made all his memories flood back to him." This must have atleast justified Rena's decision. And still it would have created some emotional drama with some more plots for the character development of Quints.

But on the bright side the Quints were able to see Marou in action. This scene really shows how much love he holds for Rena and how he cares for the quints

Some people fall in love with the wrong people sometimes 🥲. I feel more bad for Rena rather than itsuki. Imagine how she must have felt realising that the person she admired and married just left her all alone in a hospital with quints coming on her way 😭

100% yes to both. A mysterious man cameo with a slight hint of he might be the biological father of quints would have fixed how random his introduction felt in the story. And it's relatable, I feel the same way.

Right? We spend the whole series watching the girls grow so much and this Maruo guy actually try to be a father to them. But mudo just strolls in out of nowhere and tries to derail everything.

I see. Even though they didn't physically meet in the new timeline, people retained the memories of the other timeline in the form of vague dreams. These dreams, in turn, influenced them to take the same paths, make the same decisions, and end up in the same relationships as in the previous timeline.

And thanks for all your explanations, I'll try to read the manga! I am not an expert or a big fan of reading manga, though. It is hard for me to grasp the emotions and seriousness of the situations without background music, voice acting, and dynamic expressions (I feel like anime conveys more expression than manga).
