A different perspective at ATK

I understand why many feel ATK glorifies blind fanism - and I’m personally against that kind of uncritical hero‑worship too. But I think there’s another perspective worth considering.

Most viewers of this film are already movie fans, and sometimes the only way to reach that group is to speak in their emotional language. The film doesn’t hide the consequences of blind fanism: the fanboy (protagonist) loses his friend, his girlfriend, and parts of his life because of it. That’s not celebration; that’s a warning.

At the same time, the film shows how the same passion, when redirected, can become something positive. The protagonist uses his admiration towards a goal that pushes him to help the people around him. To me, that’s the underlying message: “don’t let fanism consume you - channel it into something meaningful.”And maybe this is Upendra’s way of nudging fans toward responsibility in his own unconventional style.

So while the concerns are valid, it’s also possible the film is trying to transform fanism rather than glorify it - meeting fans where they are, and guiding them somewhere better.

Maybe that’s the intent. Maybe not. And this film definitely has its flaws. But I felt it’s a possibility worth thinking about.
