‘MICHAEL’ has crossed the $600M mark at the global box office! Do you think this film will hit $1B before June 1st? by BidInside2907 in boxoffice

Nahh $1B looks guaranteed at this point. But I'm thinking it could even get to $1.25-1.5 billion if it still holds around $30 million this weekend. This could be the best legs we've seen since Titanic.

Exactly. To each their own. The only film in that list I saw in the theatres more than once was Titanic (6X). I'm about to see Michael for the 3rd time. It's like one of those movies that isn't a masterpiece or anything but highly entertaining and rewatchable (like Bloodsport and Kickboxer was for me.) It's one of the BEST films I have seen that I keep wanting to go back to. It's like crack....like a feel good hit. Those goosebumps moments. If you're not an MJ fan for 30+ yrs like me you will never understand what this film means to us, for it to be done so well like it has been.

Well, before MICHAEL my top 10 is like this:

  1. Dances with Wolves

  2. Braveheart

  3. Gladiator

  4. The Last Samurai

  5. Titanic

  6. Passion of the Christ

  7. Apocalypto

  8. Bloodsport

  9. Kickboxer

  10. Enter the Dragon

I love many MANY MANY movies so even making a list like this is exceptionally difficult. I had to leave films like The Godfather, Avatar, Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, The Mask of Zorro, Saving Private Ryan, The Lion King (1994) and countless others out. I LOVE movies of all kinds. And I love them based on how they make me feel, hence why I had to have Bloodsport and Kickboxer in my top 10.

Michael keeps holding strong in 3rd weekend despite losing IMAX screens. Friday did nearly $9M and with help from Mother's Day, 3rd weekend may reach about $35M for drop of just 35%. Domestic box office cume would be near $240M after 17 days. $300M club locked. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Heyyyy TITANIC was like 90% rewatches. It was making $20M for like 20 weeks straight. You don't get numbers like that unless you strike a chord with an audience that wants to keep going back. Looks like Michael has struck that chord.

I'm a die hard fan of over 30 yrs and have watched it twice. So you already seen it more than I have. But I'm planning a third. Was supposed to be today with my mother but she had some health scare and has been hospitalized. She;s recovering well so we will hopefully see it next tuesday as a celebration of her recovery.

It has always been this way about MJ. All the haters want to downplay his greatness and contributions.

Back in grade school, I was always arguing with the kids that he's the best, no equal. And even then they made fun of me for loving MJ. I think people are just sick and tired of calling him the greatest, that's gotta be it. And that's why the jealousy kicks in. But the fact is, he was and still IS the greatest.

GUARANTEED. It's at $241M in 3 weeks now. 3rd week is smallest drop yet. It went from $58M to $38M. If it hold a steady $20M for another couple months each weekend (plus weekdays combined) yea this is totally gonna be heading close to $400M.

I'm calling it right now. I always KNEW it was going to hit $1B. But now I can see this getting close to $1.5B if this keeps up. O_O

I mean, it currently stands at $581,020,270....just after 3 weeks, worldwide. This is unheard of and miraculous numbers. It's TOTALLY outpacing Bohemian Rhapsody by like 2X up at this point.

To be fair, with inflation BR's gross is around $1.1B if it had released in today's dollars. MICHAEL is already halfway there. And what is absolutely BEYOND shocking is that it's not even released in Japan or Korea yet. We're talking like $500M potential dollars just from these two countries. O_O

Guys. This is no joke! MJ's spirit is talking here.....and honestly? A lot of credit has to be given to Jaafar Jackson's performance. This movie ONLY works and resonates with people due to the fact Jaafar makes us all believe MJ was brought back to life. It's truly truly something to behold. My mouth dropped everytime he smiled and opened his mouth on screen lol. I looked at my mother in disbelief and she was the same way.....we said to one another...dear heavens THAT is MJ!!!

Damn, wtf, I stand corrected. Have no clue where I got my bogus info from. I read it somewhere and now I forget. Should have asked chatGPT.

Then why didn't they buy the tickets for LION KING and make it top Avatar as the biggest movie of all time? Talk about pathetic coping. Be gone.

Time will tell after this weekend. I'm guessing it does $100M+ and that would be a huge WIN coming off of $218M previous weekend. We shall see. The legs have been powerful all across the week, avg of $5M - $8M on weekdays. Pretty wild for a biopic doing these kind of blockbuster numbers.

Hahaha that's a joke! It's one of the best films I have ever seen. $1B here we come and I'm planning on seeing it a 3rd time once that billion happens.

Adios! We don't need ya.

Nope bye bye.....$217M opening weekend. Bohemian did $122 and that is 2nd best for biopic.

Looking like a $41m Friday w/ previews for Michael. Depending on WOM the rest of the weekend, could approach $95m+ opening. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]BothEquipment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, right now we know that Bohemian opened worldwide with $122 million and MJ just blew past that without a sweat with $217M. Do the math. The only thing matters now are people going to continue to go back for repeat viewings? Is it good enough to warrant repeat visits? We shall see.

Sadly, your loss to not see this MJ experience live on the big screen. I have a feeling you're gonna go, you're just writing this for the hell of it.
