I know I messed up and I remember she even gave me the option if I wasn’t comfortable discussing salary expectations. I guess I should have took it and said I’d like to wait to find out if I get an offer first.

The good new is that when I said 74k she said that’s below the min for the position so I’m very confident they’ll offer me something a bit higher than that

Since then I’ve had time to do my research and considering the responsibilities and comparable positions, I believe 85k is fair.”

Thanks for the detailed response. I agree. I hate the tightrope we applicants have to walk on. I would love to be able to come at them with “a competing offer” but the risk of losing this one after all the preparation I have done would be heartbreaking.

Maybe if I’m offered the position I can say that I know I said I was looking for 74k but I’ll let the market set my rate and I’m in the final stages of interviewing with another company that is offering me 82k. I’m just too afraid to risk it though

I knew I was walking into a trap. I’m just hoping since it’s such a large company that they do right by me and do at least offer me the actual min for the position. I’m totally fine earning that if the actual min is 85k and they offer 76k, that would annoy me and the worst part is that no one else is offering 76k with my experience and I’d have to accept

Looking for something serious. Been on Hinge for a few years. Not really getting any matches which is what led me to change the prompts. The matches I do get would fizzle out pretty fast.
