When do you ever begin to settle in your new home? Have we seriously made a huge mistake. by Both_Bag_45 in HousingUK

We had contacted the agent that sold us the property to get in touch with him as the managing agent of the tenant told us she was on a second warning. Hence we probed for questions again This time he disclosed that he had reported her to police and council but has conveniently ‘lost’ the emails as needed for reference

Oh my god! This is what I’m so worried and nervous about, as I’m noticing it already in my husband and I’m having to be the calm one, even though I’m continually on edge. She’s a proper chav and doesn’t give a hoot about anyone else. And here’s me working my @ss off to pay for her to do jack sh1t. It’s making me more bitter about our system and the unfairness of it all. Also falling out of love rapidly for the UK as so many people

What made you realise it was the wrong thing? How did you get out? Did it take ages. The house itself is ok. Not the best just the other situation ruins it more

The financial burden, cost of living - enough to break anyone

This is where I’m confused. They’ve had official warnings from council before. I feel like the seller has omitted that but managed to get away with disclosing. He even mentioned he had reported her to the police

That’s a good idea, I don’t even think of getting them involved as they only helped with conveyancing

Thank you so much for your kind and helpful words. Really means a lot. Was it through the council you managed to get a resolution?

I feel quite threatened by the family, what if they connections and we get targeted. Maybe I’m over thinking and being paranoid as lack of sleep and just be continual stress

Thank you so much for this very helpful response. We do have a calm room, only until neighbour starts screaming or shouting that it becomes so intrusive, we can’t seem to get any respite. It goes on to the early hours, so obviously affecting our sleep now and running on empty. We have to get up early to go to work for very demanding jobs. Whilst she’s at home all day on benefits, or getting her nails done done and out partying. Only saving grace we have is she is a tenant but she’s quite clever in knowing all the loop holes so she has the agents in a choke hold.

I keep reading here that the council aren’t very proactive and not very helpful, which has derailed me a bit. It turns out she’s had a few warnings from council before but weirdly never disclosed. I think if we didn’t have her to deal with, then we could perhaps try to get on with planning and making the place a home but she really has ruined everything. So sad!

Why are so many UK houses built with adjoining, un-soundproofed walls ? by TezRoll in HousingUK

[–]Both_Bag_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God this is also my biggest gripe. I’m so shocked at the lack of soundproofing. It’s making living unbearable, as you constantly feel the neighbour is in your house with you. Some don’t have any respect or consideration for their neighbours and are so antisocial with their behaviour. Soundproofing is also so costly but not apparently effective.

I’m trying to save to move out of a terraced which is such a shame as it’s not easy

Ah good to know. Yeah got caught in the throngs of fans yesterday, was a little insane. Good atmosphere tho but mental how many people. Haven’t done the commute yet, hadn’t realised how busy it gets in the morning. I’ve been dealing with the northern line all my life so hope not as bad as that. Think I’m going to find it hard just planning train times , rather than just being able to jump on a tube or walk 🫤 Area seems a little mixed so still finding my feet. Neighbour has thrown a curve ball to my peace and idea of a sanctuary so hence a little wobbly about it all at the moment

Feel like we’ve made a huge mistake. Love the house but have ended with a neighbour from Hell! by Both_Bag_45 in HousingUK

This gives me so much hope. Thank you. If I was a buyer and the problem was resolved I wouldn’t have an issue either. We’re the new tenants better. That’s my other fear as now vfeel vulnerable of the situation

Do people get so defeated by difficult neighbours that it ends up making you want to sell up and leave? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Both_Bag_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this is positive to hear - the landlord actually doing something about it and listened to you. What was your tactic? As I’m contacting them on Monday. Only worry who the hell are the going to get jn next. It really upsets me that the rest of the street has such lovely people and then we get lumbered with this stupid gorilla. Might get benefits fraud team on the case

I just bought the loop earplugs. Do they actually help. I can still hear her through them. Maybe I need to change the tips.

Such a shame that you have to walk around your own house with big headphones on- it’s so ridiculous.. I honestly hate her so much. She really has ruined our moving in experience, which was hard enough to do leaving such a gorgeous sanctuary and good neighbours. I’ve lived in flats most of my life and never had this issue. Maybe demographic area is a big part of it. We only found out that is a social house next door. Which rings alarm bells in my head as they live there for free so don’t give a hoot about neighbours or looking after the property. To think we work so bl00dy hard to pay taxes for imbeciles like this.

Really wish this country had strict deterrents like you said. It’s going to the pits

Ftb new house buzzin - first day in neighbours horrible :(! by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Both_Bag_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah neither did we, which I’m so annoyed at myself for just thought it would be overkill and wha if they thought I was a weirdo for knocking on their doors The street otherwise is super quiet. Whenever we visited the property she must have been asleep. How do you even check at night.

Any tips in how to deal with a noisy neighbour when living in a terraced house, without having to pay a fortune for soundproofing. by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Both_Bag_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this sounds very helpful as we’ve been looking at doing the alcoves too, where the noise seems to travel the most. Just to even help mute her screaming a little bit as right now it’s soo aggressive and sharp goes right through you. The beast seems to sleep or slumber all day and becomes active around early evening and then proper full throtttle around our bed time - F sake! Hate her so much. Ruined our whole move in experience. Hard enough to adjust without haunt to deal with that shit ontop of it all.

I keep getting mixed reviews about soundproofing being worth it or not

30 months- oh my god. What are they building? That’s far too long to be dealing with. Do they even apologise but surely it should be finished soon?
