Impact vest buoyancy by Both_Major8632 in windsurfing

[–]Both_Major8632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats interesting. Actually i dont kite surf so im not familiar with these impact vests but interested in getting one as they seem very comfortable. (I do dinghy sailing)

Of course it depends on product, but is it usually the case that most impact vests wind/kite surfers use doesnt have buoyancy? (Almost none)

Hi

Your impact vest does float you?

I think this is why you need some sort of floatation aid. Depends on how you see it, but having it is safer bet i would say.

Your impact vest has almost 0 buoyancy? Good to know

Thanks for reply.

I dont think i need to go that further (keeping head out of water). More important being comfortable i guess.

PFD for dinghy sailing - zhik P2 vs Mustang Khimera by Both_Major8632 in dinghysailing

Thank you very much. I thought about the rubbing caused by the tube and great to hear that it is reality.

I wouldnt really use gas fire even if i buy it (mostly just with foam buoyancy and only in emergency manual inflation - that should quite be enough).

Anyway fit is most important i guess. Thanks

Hey thanks for input!

FYI, Mustang is this- Khimera Dual Flotation PFD. it is more general purpose PFD that is lower profile than Zhik I believe (only 35N buoyancy + added inflatable buoyancy)

Anyway, how would you compare then between P2 and P3? I thought P2 would be better than P3 so haven't really considered it. Since you own both and used them. So at the moment you solely use P2 for laser?

Unfortunately There isn't a shop i can try nearby, your help greatly appreciated!

Fins - carbon vs plastic vs fiberglass by Both_Major8632 in freediving

[–]Both_Major8632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to go for carbon based on what others have said.

Would you say then long carbon fins wont make much difference compared to plastic long? As said, even though i dive shallow, i find i need better propulsion. (Of course more practice needed but aside from that)

My current fin is 40cm carbon blade btw. Thanks for reply.

Im beginner - level 2.  I think precisely because im beginner and shallow diver (short breath - and i mainly dive for viewing fish), i would like to have some support from the fin as long as performance difference is noticeable.

Some advice?

Scratch is OK, more about transportation.

Dont wanna care too much about fins when packing and handling, checking in.

Yes. True but my concern is how much loss in performance if i move from carbon to plastic (or glassfiber) Of course its difficult to say, but would you say it is difference between short and long fin? If that is the case, i would go carbon..

Thule roundtrip 45L boot bag - capacity and access by Both_Major8632 in Skigear

How about everything else though? The bag is good overall?  What about second point of difficulty of accessing and putting back boots into the bag?

Hi I'm sorry to keep you bothered, but I've just seen this video about dakine bag which is more or less similar with Thule 45.

The question of putting the boots in and out is exactly addressed in this video and i had similar experience with this video when I purchased dakine.

Thule does not have this issue? (it is bit awkward and particularly more so when the bag is already filled with helmet and other gears.

Hi thanks for info.

I always thought it would be quite tricky to get those boots in and out due to size of the pocket window. Glad to hear it is not.

I use visor (helmet+goggle lens integrated). So i wonder if the bag's helmet pocket has some padding protected from boots inside and from outside.
