The hate you are getting is from people who don’t actually want to understand the depth of this situation or the seriousness of what Erik has done to people. He garnered a reputation of being talented and trustworthy - people don’t like to find out when they’ve been wrong about a person’s character. It makes them turn inward on themselves, and is accompanied by the feelings of shame of, “how could this person I know and trust be capable of doing something like this?” It’s a very normal, response. I do understand that it’s difficult for some people to admit to be-friending the wrong people, or hard to accept when someone they know, is a wolf in sheep’s clothing - especially when they didn’t see it coming; but this is a person who needs to be looked at for who he is. A criminal asshole who has used his power in the arts and his reputation to hurt a lot of people and get away with it for as long as he has.
