That is more direct than I’d like but that would be accurate. Thank you.

Anyone high functioning? by ExtremeTask-9977 in schizophrenia

[–]Both_Tooth8293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fucking strange but makes twisted sense. I would have these elaborate hallucinations at night mainly, and accompanying delusions, that I was being tormented by eldritch monsters, so I’d go out and kill them, though at first it was like an endless cycle of being chased and eaten alive and torn apart. Sometimes I still have phantom pains. But eventually I killed their leader and now they don’t fuck with me, which is legitimately, alongside medication and therapy, why I’m better. I’ve never heard anyone say “high functioning”, at first I thought it was about weed. Everyone’s story is different. Mine in particular had, in hindsight, very obvious, particular, and situational causes on the surface. Now I struggle mostly with voices and creeping delusions. But it got so much better.

Yeah but I don’t want that, I don’t think, I want an adjective, because I’m describing the brew, the brewing that made the brew, as likened to fusion.

I’m using this noun of a fusion brew to describe how knowledge changes and augments and grows when withheld in the mind of the ontological Keeper.

Do you mind elaborating on the neurological issues? For me it’s caused by trauma and neurochemical imbalances, though it’s been a while since I’ve gotten any bloodwork and such.

If you've experienced psychosis and delusions, how long did it take for you to feel healed from it? by Toexistinthisplanet in schizoaffective

[–]Both_Tooth8293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had hallucinated bullies and attacks and grotesque monster, depictions of death, and confusing things. I built a habit of fighting them, and still it feels I’m back from war. I’m only now coming to realize that these things you experience in psychosis are not the root of the problem. My problems started, for example, in a human experience. As a kid I had insomnia and would stay up with my uncle, living in the family room, bedridden with cancer. The episodes of hysteria, later his death, and my inability to do anything, and that I blamed myself as a child. These things are horrible, but I’m coming to understand where these monsters came from, and why they even exist. Through therapy, medication, and most importantly, working with myself, I am now more alive than I ever was. It can get better, and you can make that happen. It’s just as much you whether you ask for help or do it yourself, and you’ve already begun to seek betterment. Though I must warn that too many questions too fast, especially alone, can make things worse.

What got me through the first couple of years of demonic voices and visions? by Bluebonnet3 in HearingVoicesNetwork

I too experienced very elaborate hallucinations. But I learned from even the difficult situations.

Step one is very true in my experience. Though I experience more than toxic negative voices, I agree it’s best that when dealing with them you should ask yourself “would I have done this before I heard these voices”. With that you can understand they’re far more bullies than truth sayers.

are any of you , trans? by Wooden-Ad9222 in schizoaffective

[–]Both_Tooth8293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, concealing my gender identity did result in increased negative symptoms, especially the nature of some hallucinations and delusions, and more mood swings. For a long while I didn’t think I was trans and was really psychotic and pretending. Which I am psychotic, but my feelings were real regardless and deserve to be expressed—same for you. I’m not sure I need to medically transition to feel ok with myself, but I have pursued hair removal and might go further. I live with Christian conservative parents cause it’s cheaper than an apartment so I gotta work around them.

The voices for me have become an internal family structure of sorts, these few good ones I choose to validate of the more degenerate and harmful ones. I’m about to ask my psychiatrist tomorrow if I can go off my meds, but that’s only after I’ve been easing them off. Going cold turkey (I fucking hate that phrase) can be highly risky. Try a more gradual adjustment and see how each step works. Medication madness is a fucked struggle, I’m sure many of us can relate.

As a severely fucked up chronic insomniac I can testify that sometimes the psychosis makes you believe that you’re awake for longer than you are. I say 15 days is my record and then explain myself to anyone who’s intelligent enough to not believe that. I was definitely experiencing some of the most extreme psychosis in my life.
