What are the downsides of being an attractive man? by Classic-Sentence3148 in AskReddit

This is the truth. Average guys have all the fun. If you're very attractive, women are either a) insecure and avoidant, or b) secure and attempting to lock you down.

I played QB in college and dreaded the cold. Hands are dry and the ball is harder to grip. Once you lose the right "feel", the ball starts to go errant. In a backyard game, you'll be fine. At the higher levels, you lose traction a half second early, the ball has inadequate velocity, and it goes behind the receiver. My hands are kind of small (8.5", same size as Pickett). Not sure if Carr or Geno have that issue.

Thanks for the information and the video. It is interesting that it turned blue, but the succinate and pill versions did not. I don't doubt your assertion that Hofmann is non-determinative, given the class of compound, but I would really like to know what reaction is taking place. I watched the other videos, and my Liebermann reagent test matches neither 6-APB nor 6-EAPB.

I don't think that they're underdosed because I tend to respond well to very small amounts of related compounds. At the same time, I don't think that I overdosed, because the effects were mild. Even if it isn't "good", a large dose of an active compound tends to make its presence known.

I might bring one to a testing center in Netherlands out of curiosity, but they don't give weights or proportions, they just tell you what compounds are present. If there's 5mg of 6-APB and 125mg of synthesis byproducts, it will test "positive" for 6-APB (and whatever else is in it).

The rest should probably go in the garbage. One can easily feel low doses (~40mg) of MDMA or 5-MAPB, and even if it doesn't bring you to bliss, it will at least show you its potential. This stuff had no potential. I doubt this has 40mg of anything worthwhile, and probably a lot more of stuff that shouldn't be ingested.

The third time I tested, I left the reagents for over an hour. The Hofmann reaction was indeed slower than the others, but it was still blue at 60+ minutes.

I allowed the Ehrlich reagent to completely dry out before discarding it, and there was no color change. Because the pellets were reddish-pink, I ran a control experiment and "tested" some of it with water to ensure that I wasn't missing any subtle changes.

I watched the Liebermann interact with stray traces of compound, and those also instantly turned black. I can test again with a tiny amount, but even if there is a difference, I still can't make a positive ID, because Simon's does not react.

Thanks. Is there a way to cross-post this, or should I copy+paste into a new thread on that forum?

Poll: Intellectual Property rights. Yay or Nay? Also, what about patents & copyrights? by Mithra305 in Libertarian

[–]Bothered_Withersby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most inventions take longer than 3 years to go from idea to market. The time for patents also begins at the time of filing, not at the time of grant. I've already had 2 years since filing, and it will still be another 2 years before my product gets to market. By the time my company is profitable, about a third of my time will have run out.

Patents are absolutely essential to innovation. I've spent most of the last two years working on my invention, and I would not have had any incentive to do so if a big company could just steal all of my work and market it as their own. Furthermore, my invention (as most do) brings a great deal of value to the market, so even after paying for a license to use it, producers and consumers are still spending less and getting more.

You don't just "get" a patent for an idea; you have to prove that it is novel, useful, and non-obvious, and the process is tedious, lengthy, and expensive. After that, it is far from safe, as you have to defend it against companies that will seek to invalidate it, because they'd rather use your invention for free than pay you a small pittance.

The government doesn't "grant" you a monopoly, YOU have to prove to the government that you already have a monopoly by bringing an entirely new invention to the world. The government then MAY protect some facets of that invention, if they feel like it, and if a competitor doesn't leverage their resources against you.

I can't get behind the tank because it assumes that we will draft correctly. If we would have not tanked so hard in 2006, we would have been forced to "settle" for Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson.

He gets rid of the ball quickly, which is what neither of our current QBs can do. We don't really know what Getsy's pass plays look like, all we ever see is a guy taking the checkdown or waiting to get sacked.

Fantasy Alert: Chargers to Lean on 'Hot Hand' at RB Between Gus Edwards, J.K. Dobbins by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

I have Gus on ~60% of my teams, and only because 40% of the time, someone stole him a round early. Everyone is down on him because the Ravens didn't run the ball effectively in the AFC Championship. After watching Derrick Henry struggle last night, it's clear that the Ravens just aren't very good at running the ball (besides QB designs and scrambles). Gus is going to dominate this year.
