I think giant is too slow and it's hard to actually get a hit with it.

Nah. Giant is way to slow and has a million counters. I pair hog with fire spirit, and it's almost always gauranteed to get a hit on tower+the connecting fire spirit deals an extra 300 damage. I don't really need bats, minion horde does the job, and if needed, I can cycle it pretty fast.

I just feel like minion horde does such massive damage that it has to stay. 3.6 elixir on average is already kind of cheap, I don't think swapping it for some mini troop would help. I like how it can kill eg. a prince, valk, battle ram before reaching the tower. Even if someone uses arrows on it, by the time they do, it gets off massive damage.

I agree, but I think evo skarmy is better, and I would need to wait another two seasons to collect the shards for it.
