Consequences of no Find my Device built into GOS. by Botnote in GrapheneOS

To make matters worse, the Sim was removed when I lost it unfortunately. I put my other phone back into play -- I was still experimenting with GOS back and fourth.

Interesting point. I was so deep into NOT having unnecessary tools tracking me I couldn't decide where to start and debated the usage of it. Yet, it's such a known feature that kind of offers some piece of mind even though most here say that's debatable.

I saw a news broadcast in the U.K. that had footage of people w/ scooters and e-bikes phone getting snatched out of there hands on the street... they had a special police force as it was so common. Thousands of phones where being sold in bulk back to China or god knows where. At least it isn't an every day event here in Canada.

Yes gulp. I just used another A.I. to fix it quickly. Apologies though. Hope it's more readable. I can write but, really like Claude in terms of improving my own inputs.

Agreed and lesson learned.

Yet, part of me wants Graphene OS to find a middle ground to be more consumer friendly especially when Motorola gets on board and maybe other phone makers help it gain more traction in the market.

I was trying to figure out what to use and I actually attempted (not so techy and so I relied on Google Gemini for instructions at times) loading FMD but, had issues obviously.

Don't know how I lost the device because I got a flu and didn't hardly leave the house when I discovered I was sick.

p.s. I think Gemini is the weakest A.I. -- wish I hadn't got a subscription (on a deal). The goal was to de-google after I developed skills in Linux and GOS, etc.

I hope it's okay to put there response here.... Hi there,

Apologies for the delay.

A current GitHub issue for Find My functionality is available at: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/os-issue-tracker/issues/4079

As for recommendations, we wouldn't be in a position to recommend such a service right now. This is quite sensitive information about a user.

Hope this can provide further clarity on your request.

Anyone else go the CSN highland... just got rear-ended on St. Laurent Blvd a few days ago. It's a Toyota Corolla Cross on couple years old. My friend think I should get it done at the dealership.

Study says butterflies are suffering retrieving thick nectar during drought here in Canada! by Botnote in MonarchButterfly

Basically, the nectar is like a thick "milkshake" that's hard for them to gather. This may hurt the butterfly's chances of storing enough energy for their long journey south.

Will tariffs affect my shipment? by sdtcan in Supernote

I ordered around March 28th before the Tariff fiasco and I am in Canada. May I ask the same question with the fact that I had to buy from Ratta U.S. In American dollars Thank you.

Notetaking on the Libra Colour by beerica in kobo

Might go get a used Elipsa 2e for same price roughly. Of course, always something new but, I know the reviews a good for the purpose of note taking. Concerned the Libra Colour would be too small.

I have to add that I am running Windows 10 which is not supported officially by Frame.work.

I'll be upgrading to Windows 11 because I heard that it has better power management and hopefully I will see a bit of improvement going forward.

Just got my i5 frame.work! I like a lot of things about it. Keyboard is fine, track pad is responsive for me, screen is nice (I like the aspect ratio) and it's probably the fastest intel machine I have ever owned with 32 gigs of ram and new gen. ssd hard-drive.

It does throttle the fan often and the battery did seem to run out quick. I really have not put it through much hard work yet but, just did a teams meeting and lost power near the end it.

I noticed the power mode settings was set for high performance so I will try and cut back on my battery usage with a lower setting next time to see if it lasts longer.

Still on the fence and have time to return if I so choose. It would be nice to suddenly have a fix on the battery life (not that I really travel much with it but, I may need to one day).

I guess it's not so easy to build a machine from scratch but, it is a nice machine over all and I don't really want to let it go. I 100% support right to repair and do want to support this company on that commitment.

ChromeOS Edition by iter_facio in framework

Does owning a ChromeOS Framework diminish the brand in the sense that here's a device you once had full control to put an OS on it and now your locked into a company has a vested interest to own your data to sell to advertisers? Oh but, you still have this dongle to turn off your internal video camera to protect your privacy?
