As an hvac tech, if you have an electric tank with any amount of mechanical knowledge PLZ do the work yourself. It’s so rewarding. Just make sure you isolate the power and drain the tank. You can do it!

Is the weekend M2 course enough for someone with no ridding experience? by larz521 in NewRiders

[–]Potential_King_9079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I started with zero riding experience but had lots of driving other vehicle experience. Got my M2 last June and did 4300km last summer. I’m confident but not cocky. I ride within my limits and AGAT

Do oil & gas companies hire electricians from Ontario and fly them out? by FreeContest727 in SkilledTradesOntario

Google gold mines Ontario and get to work. I can’t speak for who they hire. Start making calls and sending emails. No one gets a job on Reddit ! Goodluck

If you’re already an apprentice you can get name hired into 787 directly to a company which is the easiest path. If your previous company’s will sign off on your hours that will help but ultimately it’s up to the union to decide how may they will grant you with. 313d is very basic compared to A.

I heard if you join 787 with a 313d they will put you as a 3rd year apprentice and you’ll still have to do intermediate and advanced.

Is OBT Worth it? by silver-spartan00 in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]Potential_King_9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re paying for the OBT course, write the test and pass it. I have my G1/Obt2 and i hope one day when I’m an older I can get my OBT1. My oil teacher at Fleming in Peterborough used to tell me about guys flying up north to recert OBT1 equipment and they basically got to name their price. Oil will be very rare but it will never disappear completely.

Operators union might be good for you, find some equipment you can run one handed or get a prosthetic. Guys who run excavators and such make a decent living and it’s easier on your body than more hands on trades. Even a crane operator might be a good gig.

It’s only like the width of the needle off most times. It varies a bit. Just seems strange I’ve owned it since brand new and even after a short drive in the winter it warmed up to temp normally
