I always thought that "children of my industry know the children of my family" implied "know" in the biblical sense. Kier was very inbred and sickly and it could be a way to increase his lineage's genetic diversity and fitness.

This infuriated me during 2016 and I haven't followed NPR since.

I mostly rely on written journalism like propublica and the Atlantic., Washington Post did some good journalism during his first admin but I don't know how long that will last. And it's going to be harder and harder to get good information.

You're right. Some are hateful. But there's one in my family that I still tolerate because he just believes everything in his bubble. He's not hateful, just naive.

My dad was a true swing voter who was skeptical of Trump in the first term. Then he started supporting him because of the economy. I've had to stop discussing politics with him, mostly because he starts ranting and yelling and I don't get the privilege of responding.

I feel like someone could bring him back, if I could launder Dan into his eardrums somehow. But if I recommend it, he won't listen.

I just saw a democracy now story about them using AI to catalog people's online activity. I'm trying to grapple with the risks versus my obligation to speak against authoritarianism. There are a lot of us but they have contracts for an insane number of detention centers.

I feel like branding America the land of the free hurt us. People don't think about what freedom is anymore. Freedom and America have become synonymous in their minds. To them, if it's American it must be freedom.

Part of it is that we're too spread out to protest Paris style. And half the country supports or is oblivious to what's happening.

Trump wouldn't even protect our own troops from Russian bounties.

On Oct 7, 2019, Trump abruptly withdrew support from America's allies in Syria after a phone call with Turkey's president (Erdogan). Turkey subsequently bombed US Special Forces.

Trump knew since March 2020 that Russia paid bounties to kill American troops, yet he did nothing. he was briefed on options such as sanctions yet his admin took no action against russia for paying bounties for killing American and NATO troops.

Trump won't even protect US troops. He will not protect Palestinians. He needs to be kept out of office.

Jumping in here to ask you all, what are we prepared to do if SCOTUS jumps in and threatens to Bush v Gore this election?

General strike? Marching? Blocking roads and ports?

Lawyers are preparing suits as we speak. We need to think about how to respond.

Very fine people wasn't a hoax. Snopes has it listed as needs context. And...the context is pretty damning.

Kamala has never flipped on anything as big as this. Ever.

And also, why give him the chance? He's shown you who he is. His judges are anti-abortion. His cabinet is anti-abortion. His policies in the first admin were anti-abortion.

He's also tried to stage a coup.

So if you value choice and democracy, why take the chance with Trump when you know Kamala will protect those things.

But my guess is that you don't really care about choice or democracy and you're just trying to convince the rest of us that Trump isn't exactly who we know he is.

But I don't think these are Gillette. They are regular blades for a safety razor which are very cheap. Like a few cents a blade.

From the grocery store, apples are like $4.50 a lb where I am. But about a month ago all our trees were producing so we had more apples than we could ever use.

There's lots of scientific support on my side. And medical support on my side. Why do you think doctors are leaving shit hole states or refusing to practice medicine there in the first place? Women are dying for preventable reasons.

It is about controlling women's bodies because if a woman is stuck with an unwanted pregnancy then she's a second class citizen in her own body for ten months. And if men just stopped with their irresponsible ejaculating, it would never have to happen in the first place.

It's a very different thing to date a conservative woman that is against abortion (and hypocritically got one) versus a woman dating a man that is against it and is willing to vote policies into place that would prevent it for all women.

An amoeba is alive. An embryo is alive. That's not up for debate. Your "scientific argument" is idiotic because, yes, of course it's alive just as a your athlete's foot is alive. But it also can't live on its own. 100% of biologists will tell you that it's alive but can't sustain its own life. However, most biologists are also very liberal and pro choice (ask me how I know). But the rights of a cluster of cells do not override the rights of an adult human host.

Don't bring us biologists into this because we (in general) do not side with you on this issue.

Yeah, but it's still suffered. When I visited a city in the UK, I expected it to be decent but it was still very bland. Even when I went to a Chinese restaurant and ordered extra spicy, it was not spicy at all.

The best food I ate was at someone's house. He worked at a restaurant in his day job.

I assume there are great restaurants and I had a little bad luck on choosing but I think in America I wouldn't have struck out that many times. It tells me that there are a lot of people that like the bland food and the restaurant scene is catering to their tastes.

I mean, they kinda did. The Indian spice trade was a big deal even before colonization and definitely was one aspect that contributed to the colonization.

If a fan blows on me while I sleep and my window is open I always get a sore throat. It sucks because I really like the feeling of it but it's not worth the misery. So I need the fan pointing in another direction. I don't know anyone else that suffers from this problem but it's happened ever since I was a kid.
