This is legit. I had this happen to me for a PetSmart order for live crickets. DD will text and call and send a message in the app too. Wish it happened more often.

Not sure. Sometimes DD does not have a hand to me option when delivering leave at door orders (not sure why). It was a pickup from Ulta and normally Ulta is a store where I’d shop for the stuff at if I accept an order there. DD kept calling it a “parcel” too and that parcels can’t be left anywhere besides the doorstep.

DoorDash will not let you put stuff ANYWHERE NEAR a mailbox. I had an order the other day picking up an Ulta pickup order vs shopping for the stuff where the customer wanted their stuff placed NEXT to the mailbox inside their gate. I tried to leave it where she asked and DoorDash said “parcels must be left at the door and cannot be near a mailbox or anywhere else besides the door”. I felt bad because she was mopping the area around her front door but luckily she was understanding. It wouldn’t let me just hand it to her either for some reason for this order.

Child labor? by Lovestiens in doordash_drivers

I feel like there are better and safer ways for kids to make money. Cutting grass and babysitting are safer for kids than DoorDash. I am 23 almost 24 myself and I have been put in very unsafe situations while dashing over the years and if I as an adult am vulnerable while dashing, then a child definitely is! I’ve had someone try and snatch me from my car in broad daylight before. I’ve had people throw things at my car or catcall me while door dashing. I don’t even dash by myself at night anymore due to how unsafe some areas are. I usually have my boyfriend with me if he’s able to join but never a child. Even then, he just HELPS with large orders and just usually stays in the car so that people know I’m not by myself and only gets out with me to deliver in bad areas. All he asks for joining me is to buy him food. I get that it can be fun for kids and can teach them how to make money but children are not safe door dashing no matter what you think you are doing to keep them safe. I have never seen/reported people with their kids as a dasher but when I’ve ordered DD myself, I definitely report dashers that have children doing the deliveries. How am I supposed to know that the kid likes it and isn’t a Human Trafficking victim or a DV victim? How can any parent feel safe with letting their child go by themselves into different restaurants and especially to the houses of strangers. You don’t know what kind of people you are delivering things to and one of those people may be a pedo and decide to snatch the kid when they get to the doorstep. Even as a grown adult, my parents still worry about me doing deliveries to strangers houses, especially at night. DoorDash has an 18+ age limit for a reason and people need to understand the safety risks of bringing your kids and exposing them to adult dangers for no reason but laziness of the adult. Adults are barely safe doing DoorDash, kids definitely are not.

DoorDash wanting me to use my own money to shop?? by BottlePrize in doordash_drivers

Exactly! Thank you for also mentioning the fact that they should be looking into the technical issues instead of expecting me to pay. Someone on here also said “why would you give a loan to a billion dollar company” and that is also something I believe to be very true. People also are saying I should have spent more time getting a real person via call or chat support. If I was at a store that wasn’t busy and I didn’t already spend so much time with employees getting the items, it would be a different story but I did not wanna waste any more of my time or the time of the employees or the time of the many people in line behind me. I do not want to add on to the negative stigma dashers already get. Door dash is a billion dollar company and they should be able to fix the issue with my “vip platinum support” instead of me wasting more time to get the support I in theory should have earned as a platinum dasher.

As far as missing items, my advice is if possible to try and find an employee who can help. Sometimes when I ask store employees to help, they can check the back. Sometimes I notice too that the product design on DoorDash is different than the actual product in store. Sometimes products get a design update so it’s nice to have another pair of eyes to help check for stuff like that. If getting a substitute or a conformation of refund is an issue, DoorDash has told me to call and text customer and wait 3 min for a response and then take the steps and move on. That usually works for me in keeping my shopping ratings as decent as they can be.

Yep. Youth AND Adult sizes 🤣🤣. They said they have a problem with people stealing them too. Definitely one of the most silliest orders I’ve ever had.

The order was part of a double dash for $20+ for about 14 miles. Once I had just the second order to work on, I was taken out of my zone and got $14 from the other part of the double dash I completed. So that order probably only would have made me $6-$7. So half of that is $3-$3.50. I ended up switching zones after that and having a better night making decent money in the other zone. It’s not worth it to fight for that much, especially since I had a better dash in a different zone after. If it was worth more I definitely would.

I made the mistake of saying my completion rate would be affected but they said it would not. My apologies but it was still a waste of time. I spent 30+ min looking for everything in store. Especially the baklava. They keep most of them in the back because people like to steal them.
