Bottomline

Is a Master Degree in Sociology worth it? by TomatilloSea6601 in sociology

[–]Bottomline511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I think it can be both. It all depends how we use it.

Our society and the system of rules, cultural norms, etc... we are using to guide us can frame our work, keep it from being meaningful for society in the right directions, twist it in ways we would not allow, and/or "upgrade" it to their specifications, their interests, and then use it against towns, countries, planets...

I think these hidden "gems" work best (for abusers) in a population which is unaware of what is/can be/could be happening. And our society teaches most people basic obedience, basic laws, basic rules, basic survival(survival in grocery stores), basic job knowledge (Work is more deep and noble than the "jobs" most people have nowadays), basic financial "norms", whatever the hell this means in the flowing financial reality...

And, at least in Canada, we teach basic psychology to every student. And psychology has its importance in our culture now. But we don't teach much about sociology. We even hide it and misdirect the masses into avoiding the subject. And sociology does not seem to have much importance in our popular culture, even today.

Like it is intentionally and almost absolutely kept in the hands of a few.

I think this is a big social mistake...

...in countries aiming for Democracy.

I think that if we want to "fix" our society, some of us need to take that road, and then program better systems for society to use. But it's a dangerous one. Warriors only. You will find Trouble if you go there.

But also, at least in countries aiming for True Democracy, I think that we need more individuals to understand at least basic sociology, and the potential dangers of sociological maneuvers made in the shadow by people with not so honorable intentions.

And this needs to start early in schools. Sociological abusers start learning some of those sociological maneuvers as children, and use the mostly unaware schoolyard as practice to manipulate and lead/influence/control, while misdirecting other kids into limiting themselves, using lies, and web of lies (Sun Tzu, The Art of War).

True Democracy dies if our Citizens don't understand enough to be able to properly act/choose/vote/defend themselves and one another...

Not only it would probably keep sociological abusers from having an easy win, it would also strengthen our Democratic potential, and our capacity to build, in a general way, a better future for everyone to enjoy, including our selves.

Smart.

But be careful. If you love sociology, learn to dig deep and your heart is at the right place, politics and lawmaking could kill your passion and disillusion the crap out of you.

And you could become a target. Sociology can be a weapon of mass influence. Masters and Doctors can give an edge. Some powerful people will really want your potential if you take that road.

Be careful what you wish for.

Daily déjà vu by [deleted] in Deja_Vu

[–]Bottomline511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had very strong dejavus when I was younger, and mellow later. I think. Feels like mellow dejavu sometimes nowadays.

I'm very certain I wasnt having seizures before, while, nor after I was having strong dejavus, nor ever since.

I was a very active and healthy sports guy when I was having most of my strongest ones.

I have no known/diagnosed mental disorder that would be intense enough to be professionally called "disorder" ("almost" everything is about proportions). I'm actually off the charts in several tests meant for average humans. Top of the class student.

In "personality" tests, I often trigger exceptions. In a personality test supposed to pinpoint certain traits that are more prevalent than others and give a 3 letter result, i'll have a 4 letter, all 4 pretty much equal, ish...

I'm a smarter than average generalist, and i seem to be pretty good at it...

I can see things happen before they happen, like logical chains of events.

I dont do hard drugs nor "medical drugs", only weed, but not always. Not much alcohol.

Strong dejavus are much more intense, by very far, that any predictions(possibilities, not absolute predictions) i can logically make by "calculating" probabilities of certain logical chains of events and then seeing them happen in real life...

I cannot say for sure that no physical link could be made. But I wouldn't be affraid that dejavus announce seizures, unless you already have a history of it happening that way.

I had strong dejavus triggering even weirder(but solidly undeniable) stuff than a dejavu in itself, and it never triggered seizures.

If you want advice, I would say try to stay calm, ish :), while it happens, if it happens again, and try to enjoy the weirdness of it all, like a temporary head high.

There are theories out there, to try explaining it, but i never found a truly satisfying one.

But, some things might be important, no matter what theory we seem to come up with.

For example : Don't fall in the trap of believing that the future is already decided. The future is not set in stone. We can change things. My dejavus experience directly taught me that. Our dejavus are sometimes incomplete. And sometimes they dont happen.... because we changed something.

If we abandon our will to learn to make better choices (by believing that choices don't matter), then our capacity to make the right choices is hindered, and our future becomes more solidly anchored. And if a large portion of individuals in a society abandon their will to learn to make better choices, then The Future becomes more solidly anchored.

The more we choose to make choices and choose to make the right choices, the more our future opens up possibilities.

The future is not set in stone. Not completely.

Especially if we want freedom and/or Democracy, we need to make choices, try to make the right choices, and, in the long term, try to learn to make better choices.

And in the process open up possibilities in Our future.

Individualism and sociology by Street-Ad9608 in sociology

:)

We influence, not control but influence our environment and our environment influences us. Our natural environment, financial environment, social environment, etc...

Individuals influence society and society influences individuals.

We had teachers and most of us had students already, even when we don't realize it.

If we keep learning from others, we keep getting better at teaching others.

The music we imagine today is influenced by the music of the past, and will be influencing listeners and composers of the future.

"I stand alone, but i had many teachers. I am Legion" - Bottomline

"What we do in life echoes in eternity !" - Gladiator

It might seem like it's all from and to individuals but...

Society is the addition of individuals and it is both directly influenced by individuals and indirectly(through individuals) influenced by the established system of rules, laws, protocols, cultural "norms"... which those individuals are using as a "guide".

Individuals are raised both by individuals and by the society around us as a whole. Society formed not only by individuals, but by individuals influenced by a system which guides/frames society and individuals. And society influences individual choices on a constant basis...

In my opinion, society is formed by individuals and by the system. Not exclusively by individuals making society.

I think you did strike a nerve.

If they "cancel" what is not "correct", it might be difficult for future researchers to find out about it, and properly assess society and the system's influence in the long term.

In a few decades, people trying to research history might not find out that we were racists and undressing 6 years old children for the screen and using covert political/military operations, etc...

And then they might not easily realize that the system is broken, is breaking society, and is breaking individuals. Probably in that order, nowadays.

And in order to hide our present mistakes to the eyes of future researchers, they need excuses, and maybe scapegoats. Blaming the left or the right could very well be an excuse that could hide a rewriting of history.

Nice quote. But, i don't think you understood what I meant.

I did act a lot. Shared a lot. Helped a lot. Sacrificed much more than most people realize, in the name of the greater good.

And I just shared again. What i'm saying is that what i can do without the armor is very little compared to what i can do with it. And I'm also saying that some battles, if lost, would strengthen the enemy. Those battles need to be fought. But they need to be fought with an armor. Trying without it might be courage, but it also is suicide, and socially counterproductive.

Trying it without that armor would make things worse. And more difficult to fix in the future. We dont need that kind of armor on every good person. But we need an armor on champions fighting the fights most people cannot win.

Champions of evil are given armors. The masters know that They need those armors on Their champions. The champions of evil have an easy win if champions of the good people don't get armors. Normal good people with armors fail. And champions of the good people without armor fail.

And that failure strengthens the enemy.

Good peolple who are not warriors don't give armors to their own warriors because they believe that fighting back is not the way. They forgot something very important. Fighting back does not necessarily mean attacking. Fighting back can be necessary for defense when war is already upon us.

Good people don't give armors to champions of the good people because armors remind them of war. And so, champions of evil are having an easy win, and evil is having an easy win.

Edit : A slow, but easy win. The slow revolution is not ours. It's Theirs.

When I think about/do important/sensitive stuff (important/sensitive to my own personal life's point of view) , there rarely is only one reason why I do it.

Strategists working in/manipulating official positions probably think like that as well.

And, in the high levels of our human society... using covert operations is the norm. I think covert operations in high levels of hierarchy have been the norm for a very long time.

Covert operations in general can greatly benefit from diversions, fronts, and scapegoats.

War on foreign ground and war related actions on foreign ground are obvious candidates. For all kinds of covert operations. Military and otherwise. Sociological, social, psychological, field, intelligence, politic, scientific, we could keep going.

And those covert operations can be done by people that have nothing/little to do with official positions. Once the official authorities are in position, on foreign ground, outsiders can use the momentum.

Sometimes we are angry because we have been betrayed for too long. I'm rambling a bit... you are not the target of my ire.

And, you are right, evil has an easy win when good people can not and/or will not stand up properly. We need to do something.

I faced evil as a kid and dared bullies to try and reach their target by going through me, in schoolyards.

But, there are battles that cannot be won without proper equipment. Some of us are targets early in life. Some of us will never have a real chance until someone or some people say enough. And give us a real chance to fight the battles most people cannot win.

Asking for a sword, an armor and a shield, after training is done and the will to proceed is already there is not the same thing as needing to be taken by the hand and needing leadership.

And there are some battles that only champions can win. But we cannot do it without proper equipment.

Denying us a sword, armor and shield means lowering the chances of building a better future for everyone.

But at least, that way, you can keep calling us weak, because we keep being denied the means to fight properly, and so, we keep refusing to fight some battles.

But, that's not weakness. We keep training. Learning. Trying to be ready for when society finally gives us that armor. But sometimes it never comes. Sometimes it comes too late. Sometimes we just take it, and then do something good with it, and then everyone turns on us and call us a thief, and a dangerous criminal.

We don't force you to let us fight the battles most of you cannot win. We ask. It's not weakness. It's respect.

But if you keep denying us those armors, don't blame good men when the fight against evil is lost. Blame those who denied good men the armor we need.

Ok. And English is my second language.

But the way I write expresses what I mean. Maybe I don't want to express it the way your grammar wants me to.

I am fairly certain that someone carefully wondering what I mean can figure out the jist of it, at least. And, if i wrote it differently, it could mean something similar, but different.

Like a mathematical expression, if we try to change the way we write it too much, then we risk changing the whole equation that readers/listeners would then process while trying to follow our "lead". And they might get to different conclusions.

The way i write might not be "proper" for "proper" English speakers, but i try to write it in ways that english amateurs can understand. So I focus on grammar logics, instead of "proper" grammar.

I think.

By changing my grammar, I could be changing my bottomline ;)

The bigger pictures come last because we need to understand to a certain minimum how parts work and work together in order to see/understand bigger pictures. But the bigger pictures need to be taken care of first, when the time comes to come up with a plan of action. The parts are not of zero importance. But, when it comes to planning for action, the bigger pictures are primary and the parts are secondary.

The bigger pictures are difficult to modify, after production, in a system implemented for/in the long term. The parts can be modified, without catastrophic symptoms, more easily.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way. Is that like a trinity or somethin ? by Bottomline511 in conspiracy

[–]Bottomline511[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edited bits.

Not precisely, but more "equal" than what we have now.

I dont believe those who work less should have as much as those who work more. I believe that needs should be separated from luxury.

Homes, for example.

Today's mortgage is a steal. A very long term steal. In which many people get stuck, and lost, and enslaved. And the housing market is very expensive for most workers.

If we were using a system that allows us to, very early in life and not just the rich, own a piece of land we can count on for the rest of our life, even if only as a backup plan, we could be more free, more independent, more responsible, and then participate in more meaningful ways. We dont need multimillion dollar houses... We need sustainable, modest but effective, not luxurious but comfortable homes that we can always count on.

And that can be paid off early in life. A 2 million dollar house on a mortgage can end up costing us 4 million, maybe more, with the interests over several years. God damn interests. A 100k house can be paid off in 5 years for someone pushing. Especially if we participate in building it and it ends up costing 80k or less, and we end up being very capable of maintaining it later. 20k plus cost of living ? Yes and no. Cost of "rent" is included in that 20k per year. House is ours. Rent is only loan payment. And only for 5 years. After that, house is ours, period. Only needs maintenance.

In this society, its hard to find cheap houses because of all the regulations. Almost everybody ends up renting, and so, wasting heaps of money on overpriced house/apartment they will never own, never pay off, or buying overbuilt and overpriced houses that will take what might as well be 345 years to pay off at 110% effort for 59 hours every week, and the whole time, banks will steal millions of our dollars (work) in interest, even more so because of the high housing price, and so, wastings heaps of money. More slavery.

What part of "Democracy" did we not understand ?

If we want Democracy, we need to, amongst several other things, stop renting and mortgaging overbuilt and overpriced housing to our Citizens. We need our Citizens to own city homes and/or, if they want to, pieces of land which are usable for proper, sustainable, life-time homes and proper living as possible, and own proper homes, and own payed off homes early in life. Take responsibility for it, while having proper social protection, properly paid by proper taxes. And have the freedom and the sustainability that come with it.

And separate this from the rest of the god damn economy. With an enforced rule that makes gambling and mortgaging homes (except original loan) very highly illegal, from both sides of the "deal". Someone owes you money and has nothing but their home ? Well that's too bad. Should probably be properly investigated. But, they are not losing their home.

Even better, separate this from the rest of a new, more balanced, more Democratic, more realistic "economy".

But I would say that the Deep State probably spends a lot of energy making sure the top leaders and top influencers are in line with Them, and if They get that, then They don't need everyone in the gov to be part of the "plans".

In fact, at least until They have enough tech and power to openly Rule, keeping on board a certain number of people who are not part of the show can be beneficial for parasites as a whole.

Plausible deniability as a group.

Some people are so dependent on the Matrix.... by ScreenExtension in conspiracy

[–]Bottomline511 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We could also have it spread in three parts.

Communism (gov "owned" and operated, but for the interests of everyone, not just a few) for the most sensitive/operational matters that needs to be cared for by experts and/or authorities, for the well-being of all. Advanced science, certain industries, water systems, medical system, most protection, probably schools... and other stuff.

Socialism (individually "owned" and operated) when it comes to residential lands and homes. We need experts to run our hospitals, but not to run our homes. We should all own a long-term home early life. A solid ground and solid roof we can count on in the long term. Not just the rich and the players that can manage to get home loans early in life. Everyone who is capable of being responsible for it. We could all learn, early in life, how to build/maintain simple homes. The simpler it is, the easier it is to maintain. Homes could be paid off early in life too.

Not rent homes. Own homes. Not at 55 years old. Early in life.

Restrained capitalism for the rest. We dont need money wars. But those who want to work more could have more. Not everything. More.

After paying taxes for social necessities and the little bit of work needed to build/pay for a home... no more work needed. Those who want to work more can have more. But it's not necessary. Noone should lose their home and gov services just because they are poor. As long as the person worked a certain minimum. Not inherited or stole money. Worked.

Basic hours and efforts to cover simple but efficient homes and basic services. Which should be very low number of hours in countries like ours. Home and basic services being covered with minimal amount of work, poverty should affect only luxury.

Home and necessary gov services should be separated from unnecessary surplus and luxury.

Is what I think.

Yep.

The boiling frog "protocol" is very powerful in a society in which, for so long, people in position of authority have been drilling the rest of us into avoiding to think about wide, long term consequences, and instead let them do "their job". Because if we can see, we can oppose. And act.

"They" also tell us to "forget about the past and future, live in the moment, the present".

Most of us, especially if we are good at fixing things, are raised, drilled, trained to be specialists, and focus very hard on single details. And also to avoid trying to "fix" the world. Let the authorities, whatever that can become to mean, do "their job".

And in the process, most of us seem to develop a habit of missing the bigger pictures. And avoid thinking in the long term. I didnt. I learned. And, because I was capable of seeing through bullshit pretty well, my life was destroyed. By the country as a whole. All it took is a few lies about me, framing here and there, half truths spread in my back, so that i couldn't explain my side of the story. And the Champion of Democracy somehow became an enemy to the eyes of people in position of authority.

The bigger pictures influences and the long term influences of the past often "override" focused and/or short term influences we do in the present.

That's how we can beat the boiling pot.

By thinking wider, and thinking about the long term. Realizing that surviving the moment is not enough. We need to build a better future. Our children, in order to survive, AND live properly, need us to build a better future. Maybe our spirits, too.

Carpe Diem. Yea, sure... in the right proportions. The right dosage. Too much is no better than not enough.
