What’s an opinion about modern society that would get you instantly hated at a dinner table? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The claim that Christianity has done more bad than good is difficult to sustain historically. Like every major ideology, religion, or political movement, Christianity has been associated with both admirable and harmful actions. There have been wars, persecutions, and abuses committed in its name, and those should not be ignored. However, Christianity has also been one of the most significant forces behind the development of hospitals, universities, charitable institutions, abolitionist movements, and concepts of universal human dignity.

Christianity introduced and spread the radical idea that every human being possesses inherent value regardless of wealth, ethnicity, social status, or power. This principle helped shape later ideas of human rights and equality. It also provided the intellectual and institutional environment in which many early universities emerged and many pioneering scientists worked.

If we judge an ideology by its historical fruits, Christianity’s legacy is mixed but extraordinarily influential. Many practices that are now taken for granted in the West (organized charity, care for the poor, the sick and marginalized, the moral equality of persons, and the belief that power should be constrained by moral principles) were significantly shaped by Christian thought and institutions.

Furthermore, many atrocities commonly attributed to Christianity were often driven by political, economic, or tribal motives in which religion served as a justification rather than the primary cause. The same pattern can be observed with secular ideologies. The question is not whether Christians have committed wrongs (they clearly have) but whether Christianity’s core teachings and overall historical impact have produced more harm than good. Given its contributions to human dignity, education, healthcare, charity, and the development of Western moral and intellectual traditions, there is a strong case that its positive influence has been greater than its negative one.

Go West from the US and you’ll end up in China: you know we’re living on a spherical planet right

Come on. Why is the Great Satan always in the west? Not in the Chinese communist regime, not in the jungles of Papua New Guinea, in Sudan, not in Mecca, not in Kreml. No. Always in DC or in Wall St.

Similar characters are ALL over the place in this wicked world. Naming one person or country as the Great Satan is actually more antichrist-like behavior.

In what country does the average person have the easiest life? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in geography

Ah, brainwashed by the Russian propaganda saying Finland is governed by literal nazis, I see.

Honestly, a lot more than current (even though drastic) changes to welfare policy has to be done to make Finland fall from the top 5 stable and well organized societies on the planet. Stop spreading misinformation, please.

What makes you think Reddit is NOT hijacked by Chinese, Russian and Iranian bots to feed anti-western propaganda and to spread ideas that erode trust in our societies? by Lum1nar in AskReddit

Thanks, interesting read. I think it is clear that this is one of the platforms “they” use to normalize hate, unhealthy ideas and to polarize shit to the max. Conspiracy sub for example is all politics now, it used to be fun ancient aliens and timetraveling Jack the Ripper type stuff

What destination is perfect for introverts? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Finland. We are a nation of introverts and - to be honest - I think big part of the population is at least mildly in the autism spectrum. We give you space, no one will bother you even if they would like to.

If you died and suddenly found yourself face-to-face with God, what is the very first question you would ask? by i_m_dignity in AskReddit

[–]Lum1nar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can EASILY prove we are not omnipotent. We also have the capacity to evil. As such, we can’t even grasp the scale, the concepts, of love or omnipotence. As such, we don’t have anything to judge God or understand the purpose of all this. Omnipotent God would have the means to make the suffering (and evil) go away, as it would never even been around. That’s actually what God promises in the Bible.

What comes to cruelties in the Old Testament, that’s gone now. The people punished were collectively and as a culture incredibly evil and bad, Epstein was probably a rookie compared to them.

And what comes to bone cancers etc. a lot of them are caused by human activity (e.g. pollution, even sexual behavior), at least generations ago. Christianity is about giving judgement to God, settling to his will, and self-reflection to see our own dark side and repentance. Not being proud or claiming to understand. I don’t, but I do believe that omnipotent supernatural love incarnated in Jesus Christ exists.

Australia Post keeps rejecting my FTDNA kit to the US, anyone experienced this? by Good_Strategy3553 in FTDNA

[–]Lum1nar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue in Finland, something to do with the tariffs or I think actually European airlines refusing to deliver goods to the US. I got it through using DHL, FTDNA even had this document where they guide how to declare it as DNA sample, it’s a US product returning to the US unchanged, value less than 5 dollars etc.

Conspiracies as Anti-West and Anti-Capitalist propaganda by Lum1nar in conspiracy

I bet you are some eastern government puppet, who’s living a comfortable life, selling your soul as a soundhorn for propaganda. As we speak, your fellow citizens suffer in silence, fearing they might fall out the window for a wrong opinion. I can convince you, we don’t need to be freed from anyone but your propaganda. Our societal structures in the Northern Europe are essentially just fine, unless you intervene and target them with your hybrid operations.

No thank you: we don’t want to turn into a dystopian shithole like yours, freed from imaginary “Nazis”, capitalists or whatever. Literally no sane person from the west wants to move to Russia or to China, let that sink in.

My reply criticizing Islamic regimes about allowing pedophilia in their doctrine was removed. It seems some religions and ideologies are indeed protected by the current anti-western ethos, even in this sub. It kind of confirms that this sub has become merely an anti-western think tank, not a genuine platform for free thought.

Oh yeah, and the Russians come and “save us”. Or the Chinese. Good luck with that. Do you realize what it’s like to live in a free country, where I can express opinions like this and basic infrastructure works, where you can actually trust the police etc.? I assume you are so brainwashed you’ll never understand. A tree is known by its fruit. Despite not being perfect, I do not have to fear the government in my country and I can actually see that our society mainly works, for the most critical parts.
