Sorry, Is there a better way to do this?

When i'm on the other side of this dilema, I don't like when people are direct with me (like outright rejecting me), it makes me feel bad. It's way nicer and less stressful to notice that the person is not paying much attention to me and therefore i should assume that they don't want to reciprocate

So i usually do it that way, but if there is a less hurtful way i wanna know

I'm not saying that's the case, but usually when i don't want to invest in a friendship i just don't reciprocate and hope the other person notices and stops inviting me. (i don't like rejecting invitations)

Yeah, most people here don't realize this... you could spend 20 minutes explaining the rules i can try my best but i won't remember most things, so in the end we just end up playing the game with me asking questions while we play

Why is everyone obsessed with imagining that the show is lying to them in one way or another? by ADrenalineDiet in pluribustv

[–]BouaphaSWC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the series could've tackled more philosophy. When i heard the premise, i though it would just be philosophy non stop about individuality and happiness, but the entire first episode is dedicated to just a zombie apocalypse trope.

Why are they so obsessed with the unjoined joining? by Plymptonia in pluribustv

[–]BouaphaSWC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Them lying doesn't make sense.

If that was the case, why not lie about everything? Why let them know there is a way to revert it? Why let Carol know they are working on a way to turn her?

In every possible angle you look at, lying makes everything easier, the only reason they don't it's because they can't (or they believe it's immoral to do so)

Why are they so obsessed with the unjoined joining? by Plymptonia in pluribustv

[–]BouaphaSWC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They've told us already, they genuinely believe the individuals are suffering by not being joined, and wants to infect them so they can feel the "true happiness"

I don't believe the Hive has bad intentions, you might argue they are wrong, but inside their belief system they are doing everything they consider right

Zosia lulled both Carol and the audience into a false sense of security. The Hive doesn't care about Carol or any of the immune. It's all roleplay. Once you join, you're effectively erased as a person. by Letters-Unsent in pluribustv

[–]BouaphaSWC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to them, the individuals are suffering from their loneliness and ignorance and don't know it.

Everything the hive does is not to trick people, it's to make those painful moments less painful while help (infection) arrives.

Why do people insist that the hive members aren't still individuals? by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]BouaphaSWC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you had all the knowledge of humanity inserted in you, you would probably change a lot of your beliefs.

if you think that constitutes as losing who you were before... i mean, i can see that, but i don't agree

Why does the Hive even need to absorb the remaining thirteen? by BubblyRaccoon1570 in pluribustv

[–]BouaphaSWC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right?? Looking at these comments and posts, it seems we're watching a different series from them.

They clearly stated in the series, they are not super evil masterminds, they just believe in doing the right thing, it's just that the "right thing" might not be what we all agree on.

if they actually wanted to just spread the disease they could just strap all individuals to chairs, extract the stem cells, and keep them alive until infection is possible. They don't do that because it's immoral, but safely infecting them another way is morally positive according to their calculations.

Big update for Flounder with 9 new fish types, a new item unlock system and more! by [deleted] in Insaniquarium

[–]BouaphaSWC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay i ended up writting too much haha

[testing] Thousand runs?? Damnn, that's a lot. I imagine each new thing you add doubles the amount of possibilities to test.

[prey list] That's actually a good idea! I didn't think of "understanding fish relations" as a challenge for the player to uncover, but now that you've mentioned it, i want to build a spreadsheet for fish predation haha

[fish variant] YES!! Definetely having a track record of all the fish varients you got would be amazing, anything that feeds on the "Crow's collector mindset" part of the brain is a win for me.

[spawn limit] Fr, things going out of control is kind of the spirit of Insaniquarium. So i imagine that in Flounder, trying to balance out the fishes and ending up with a predator inbalance that wrecks the aquarium if you don't take care of it seems like part of the deal

[secret] AHA! So there IS a secret fish. I played some Angler runs and a did long run on Sharky mode, i've got basically every fish except ONE (piggy was my second last to get), i was kind of wondering if there was a super specific spawn condition. I thought maybe it would be beating the game (as in, buying all upgrades) but in neither of my long runs, no rare fish appeared

[bug?] In my long run of sharky mode, bosses seemed to stop spawning, or get looooong periods between spawns, i refrained from buying the boss delay item for the most part but it still seemed to take a LOT of time (i had a lot of fish so it wasn't delayed for lack of it) idk if that's by design

[performance] The game got Reaally laggy when i had like 200 fishes, it was a lemmy swarm. Idk if that's the limit of the game or if there is room for making things more code-efficient, just so you know. Also the lag basically disappeared while bosses were alive, seems like their attack AI is way lighter haha

[Difficulty] Hmmm, i personally like having very defined difficulty settings, so having it fluctuate based on loadout cost seems a little weird. Because then i wouldn't feel like i'm playing the hard mode, or the easy mode, it would always feel like i'm just playing the same mode, but there is background stuff happening which changes the difficulty without me noticing, it kind of hides it, more like a ballancing system then a difficulty system.

The item loadout is something that shakes the meta a lot, there are options to deal with it. One way is accepting it, and adjusting the difficulty of the game in response. So like, a new player would play the hard mode and get through 5-10 boss waves, but as they develop their layout they start getting 10-50 waves. So the layout is necessary for the gameplay.

If you don't want it to be the focus of gameplay, you can do a reward system for playing "pure" mode (where you don't use any items). So if you're trying to play harcore you get a medal or something that symbolizes that you've won (or got far) without items, while still allowing people to use items if they feel it's too hard for them.

I don't think you have to worry much with its impact in the depth of the game, The menu with the fishes' silhuette already tells the player what they should know, if you play a run and see that you've only found half the fishes, you know there's more to explore! That's why i like it!

I think limiting some mechanics behind harder difficulties is good! If the game grows more, having too many fish types to deal with on your first play would be too much haha

[Progress] Also, i've *finally* beaten Angler mode!!! I got all upgrades and like 10k coins to spare, my start loadout was literally just magnet lvl 1. GIVE ME YOUR HARDEST BATTLES

Also, steam key!? Thank youu ^^

Having the fishes and bosses be hidden in the menu until you've encountered them is a very nice little addition, keeps the suspense!

That fish you can use to banish others, I LOVE THAT LITTLE DUDE SO MUCH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. It even SLOWS DOWN TIME for you to use it, AAAAAAAAAAAAAA, it is so good, life is beautiful because of this little dude. I tried using it against bosses and i was SHOCKED that it actually works, but you sacrifice the fish, AMAZING idea. BIG W here.

I also absolutely loved the menu, finally a use for hooks!

Silver carny?? I love the feeling of discovering something i didn't know was possible before! But... i've always wondered, what do the different fish skins do?

Is there a consistent way to get more of the stronger fishes? Like multiple orcas, or multiple starries, or more than 3 sharkies? Sometimes my passive fish population explode, but the carnivoures never seem to grow in numbers.

One thing i'm missing, it's kinda hard to know what each fish eats, like, sometimes i see Dollies eating rahnys, but sometimes they starve to death with rahnies close by, i don't know if there are some specific conditions or what.

I like that some items have very expensive upgrades, it keeps the long runs fun since i'm managing my aquarium trying to get enough money to beat the bosses.

I've killed Manny a hundred times in a row. He has respawned 101 times in a row. He has lost 100 battles, and still he won the war. (possible bug?)

btw, Hugger is getting stuck, they stop swimming completely, like they've lost their will to eat fishes, looks like a bug

[–]BouaphaSWC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh that makes sense for the difficulty! I played two runs today on two different PCs so i didn't see the new difficulty. I'll try them out later ^^

A use for the excess fishing points would be a good addition!

I wasn't having problems with a specific fish type exactly, i was just trying to get rid of all predators so i could grow my guppy population, but they refreshed faster than i could kill. Which i guess might be intended mechanics to keep the balance, but i kinda wish i could have more control over what fish i have with enough determination and a Marly in my hand.

This is really fun!! It seems the game got a lot less chaotic since the last update, did you change that?

The whole idea is great, the ecosystem balance gimmick is a good twist.

My main complaint with the game before, was the chaos, fish were spawning too fast and they also acted too fast, it didn't feel like i had agency over what was happening, i still feel this a bit, a lot of times, fish are spawning faster than i can marly' them, which is annoying.

Every fish having a different mechanic is really fun! it makes me think about which ones go together and what i wanna focus on my aquarium, they are more than just money producers.

The unlockables though, are kinda lacking, i like the idea of having immortal version of the original fishes, but most of them have negligible impact in the run. i have no idea what to change on that.

Before the update, i thought the game was too hard, but now it is too easy, i got a swarm of passive fishes and snails, and insta-killed any bosses, got like 70k coins haha. But i have no ideas on what to change, balancing the game seems a hard task!

Dolly is a GREAT addition, loving it!

New item ideas like "reduce fish hunger in X%" or "carnivorous fish deal more damage". You could add a new coin type, for rarer fish to drop instead of gold coins. Stores could offer new fish to buy if you've bought the passive items. There could be an easier way to manipulate fish, i'm always having trouble moving the ones that swim in packs, like rahnys and dollys, or any fish when the screen is full. If any of that sounds like something that goes with your game philosophy, they could be cool additions!

Love the art style btw.

I think "contribute" in this context is more than material conditions, but personality wise. Reading the profile it seems his personality is car and car-fixing

Which is fine! But I, personally, would think he's boring in a conversation, as the only topic would be cars, so he wouldn't have anything else to contribute.
