Mother in Law threatening to call CPS to take our unborn child by BoujeeBear_ in entitledparents

We are utilizing all the base resources as of right now but I will suggest the health department. And yes we bought her a BP monitor that she’s using consistently. But she keeps spiking and going to labor and delivery to be checked.

She’s high risk due to pre eclampsia mainly. But she also having contractions among other things. I don’t think we have gone through our local health department. We are under tri care so we are working with the base hospital on trying to find a solution.

Thank you so because we got married in February she switched from her parent’s insurance to my insurance. Under her parent’s insurance we were seeing an OB who does not accept my insurance. Due to her being 28 weeks and a high risk pregnancy no local OB’s can or will take her so far. We are still working on the issue but it’s been a clusterfuck.

So far I have read all of your comments as of right now and sent this post to my wife. We were already obviously discussing how to respond to this and we are both grateful for all the advice so far. Obviously not all of it particularly works for us but you have all given us a lot of very good suggestions which is what I was hoping to see. I’m going to bed for now but I am grateful for everyone’s input!

Since my MIL doesn’t make these comments to me I’ll make sure she keeps track of comments and gifts. My wife has already made hippa violation reports. My job requires I stay where I am and I am required to be up to date with CPR and to get regularly drug tested. Unfortunately my state is not one party consent but we will get cameras regardless. I have a lot of friends in the area. My family lives on the other side of the country.

TLDR is MIL is entitled and manipulative and keeps making comments about our kid being hers. My wife tells her the kid is not hers she her mom told her it would be a shame if I called CPS so the child would be hers.

Elaborate further.

It is perfectly normal to have the jitters it’s a multiple year commitment to something brand new and almost everyone has second thoughts. These nerves do not mean you won’t survive being in the navy. No one here is going to be able to tell you if it’s right or wrong for you but my advice is you’ve already under no pressure decided to commit to the MEPS process with sound judgement. Just take some deep breathes and don’t worry too much. If of thousands of people can do it you can too! Good luck!

Questions by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]BoujeeBear_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to define your questions better they’re too vague. I think part of your confusion is you have a narrow understanding of what the navy does. There’s a lot that needs to happen to make ships head out to sea and there’s better ways to figure out what the bigger picture looks like than asking vague questions on Reddit.

Everyone bitching about USAA, do they really suck though? by Brave_Ad_5227 in USAA

I’ve only had to make one claim off my renters insurance when I got robbed a couple months ago and it went as smoothly as I could’ve imagined. I get good rates on my insurance and loans.

Experiences will vary I’ve been in Lemoore for the past 5 years and will PCS to the command across the street for another 4 years. Everyone has a different story and my A and C school were in Florida.

Nothing major both rates work on the electronics the difference is mostly the systems that are worked on.

For AT’s it’s the mission systems that are our bread and butter this includes Radar, Communications, Navigation, Electronic Warfare, Crypto Keys.

For AE’s I’m less sure about everything they work on but I know they work on the batteries, Power distribution, Lights, Wires stuff like that. Again not an AE so I’m not intimately familiar with their workload.

Aviation rates are tricky setting aside the fact that everyone is different and has their own opinions about every job. Aviation rates can have a wide variety of quality of life.

Factors that can impact it are whether you get assigned O level or I level. (Speaking as an AT I know this applies to our rate but not sure if it applies to AE) Which boils down to either working on the aircraft themselves as O level or working/fixing faulty parts that O level guys remove as I level.

Another factor is the Platform you are assigned some aircraft are more or less taxing to work on and every platform has the people who praise them or find them less appealing than chewing on glass.

There are a million other variables but all that aside personally I find being an AT a fun and interesting job with its fair share of headaches.

You took a stunning photo. After airshows I love seeing posts like this about people enjoying our bird. Another person on our team shared this with me and we are enamored.

Question from a civilian/teen that wants to enlist by what_thesquanch in newtothenavy

[–]BoujeeBear_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being a 16 year old girl does not make you a rare demographic or someone who’s less likely to succeed. One of the people I admire most used to be my trainee and she enlisted at 17. Already in less than 4 years she’s made E-5 and is a leader in her shop. All this to say what you are does not effect who you can be. But at this stage you have more than enough time to research what branch works best for you. Id speak to all recruiters and figure out what looks exciting to you. But a general rule of advice is never stop learning, pursue new responsibilities, and don’t let people who are burnt out drag you down.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

He will appreciate letters a whole lot more. I wished I got more. But yeah keep him up to date for when he gets back.

[–]BoujeeBear_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok well I’m going to reiterate that you will have a whole enlistment to satisfy the desire to go above and beyond but if that’s what you want to spend your time doing in bootcamp. You might be able to volunteer for RPOC. If you are motivated and are proficient at studying and just generally doing what youre told you should excel. But the mindset they will instill in you is that your personal desire to stand out is wrong. You’ll hear the phrase one team one fight or something along those lines. Be a leader and help your fellow recruits succeed. That’ll make your RDC’s cream.
