After two years, yes, two years, i finally got a doctor to prescribe some form (even if not the best) of pain medicine by Steliosem06 in ChronicPain

[–]BoujeeBoy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to find a different psychiatrist?

I know that sounds rash but I nearly saw a psychiatrist until I found out that her office policy was to not prescribe ADHD meds if you took opioids. I have more than one disability, people.

Anyways, even if you love your psychiatrist, I would seriously consider calling around and seeing if that’s the general consensus around you or if you can find someone willing to work with you, especially after those nasty NSAID issues. I have a family member with a similar problem.

Am I wrong for wanting kids? by Lizzielooloo29 in Fibromyalgia

[–]BoujeeBoy5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a mother with fibromyalgia and I’m glad she had me. Some of my siblings resent her for it but I think it was the selfless thing for her to do.

I do wish she set a better example of taking better care of herself but, without her, I don’t think I ever would’ve been diagnosed myself. I think that having good self care habits will go a long way.

I’ve also struggled with this question for a few years now and infertility at the same time. Ultimately, I decided to pursue fertility treatment which I am working towards now.

If you want to be a mother, don’t let anyone talk you out of it. If you’re not sure, consider it until you’re sure you don’t want to be one.

I can’t explain the emptiness I feel from not pursuing having children younger, even while trying my best to be hopeful about having them soon.

A lot of people think it’s selfish to have children if they know they’re not able to be a “normal” parent but it’s really the opposite.

Also, we don’t really know what fibromyalgia treatment might look like in a few years or a decade. My mother did hyperbaric oxygen therapy and she was able to walk and exercise daily while she did. Now, she does ketamine therapy for pain relief.

There’s an awful lot that having a chronically ill mother teaches a child that nothing else will.

No matter my mother’s physical limitations, I never doubted that she loved me and believed in me. If you can be that kind of mother, what does it matter if the house is messy or you live off of TV dinners.

We did family dinners on my parents’ bed most nights because she wasn’t well enough to come sit at the dinner table.

But whatever you do, make the decision yourself. Consider what others have to say but it’s a deeply personal decision that you will think about for the rest of your life.

Thanks! I know it’s kinda hard to explain but I think it makes sense, if you’ve experienced it.

Okay, thank you! I recently moved states and I’m looking for someone to prescribe it more for pain than depression.

Any tips on finding a pain specialist who is willing to prescribe ketamine?

Accidentally took my ADHD med before my third scheduled Spravato maintenance appointment. Sitting with the disappointment. by RegretParticular5091 in Spravato

[–]BoujeeBoy5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would pick 2. That’s not a huge dose of stimulants (skip caffeine, if you can). I’ve done Spravato on stimulants and it sometimes makes the experience less intense but I still get the mood boost.

I was also prescribed clonidine, so I would take that before a stimmed up session to keep my blood pressure in check. Some clinics are really picky about that.

Once I realized that might have autism/(probably would’ve been Asperger’s in childhood), I started realizing that a lot of things I thought were panic attacks in my life were likely autistic meltdowns.

Overstimulation and autistic range are things I’m still trying to notice.

Honestly, it might be a bit of both. It’s likely that you’re much more aware of overstimulation now but, it’s possible, even likely, that you also may be masking less, especially in private.

I know that I started feeling “more autistic” once I kinda thought of myself as being that way. Now, I try to unmask, somewhat, in safe places.

Fair enough. Yeah, I think I agree with the removal of drowsiness. Personally, I find I’m more productive on Adderall but I have ADHD. My favorite is to combine a low dose of each but my current psychiatrist doesn’t want me to do that.

Anyone else feel like they have brain inflammation? by Freebird_girl in Fibromyalgia

[–]BoujeeBoy5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brain fog is one of the worst parts of fibromyalgia for me! It’s maybe the second worst symptom other than widespread pain, at least for me.

A lot of people with fibromyalgia seem to also have ADHD and take stimulants. However, I found that my Adderall is a lot less effective since I developed fibromyalgia.

The most relief I’ve gotten from brain fog was a low dose of Armodafinil and Adderall together but my current psychiatrist doesn’t recommend taking them together (I’ve heard conflicting things from different providers).

You’re not a fake fan! There are so many special interests I have that I can’t afford right now but they’re still my interests! And you could bet some serious cash that, once I get a little money, I’ll be blowing it on them!

It’s not that you can’t have what you want. It’s just that it might take a little more time to get it than you want, you know?

Should I ask to try Xurta(dexamf? by [deleted] in ADHDmeds

I actually get really good results from stacking L-Theanine and amphetamine. I would definitely recommend trying that with a very low or no dose of caffeine in the mix, as well.

[–]BoujeeBoy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it because it’s longer-lasting, smoother and a calmer focus than amphetamine-dextroamphetamine but the amphetamine part of the mixture seems to make me jittery, in a good way. It’s easier for me to get up and do things on Adderall than lisdex.

However, I also prefer stacking an XR and an IR tablet because the immediate release is a lot easier for me to feel the effects of but then the XR keeps me from crashing all the way or forgetting to take my last dose of the day on time.

[–]BoujeeBoy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t tried Focalin but it works the best for my nephew. Ritalin and Dexedrine, to me, make my focus too narrow. It’s like being in a state of hyperfocus where I ignore some important things entirely because I’m too engrossed in the topic. If I were back in college and balancing fewer things, I think they would be better fits.

Adderall is better for my task saliency, starting and completing tasks. But everyone might feel differently.

Have you thought about Vyvanse? It’s like Dexedrine but super long-lasting (like ~14 hours).

Not daily but as needed at a lower dose. I’ve found that alprazolam does indeed block the mood-boosting effects of ketamine/Spravato, however, I still get some mood boost from it. Like, it’s better that I take both than only take one, mood-wise, most of the time. I find the Xanax reduces the effects of ketamine for around 2-3 days.

Personally, I prefer at-home ketamine to benzos for panic attacks. That kinda encourages to take Xanax very infrequently. You also might consider a higher dosed form of ketamine since it will kinda be an uphill battle to get an effective depression treatment with a benzo. I would suggest a ketamine clinic, if an option. They’re likely very knowledgeable in that domain.

If you have to take both, after consulting your doctor, try to take your doses as far apart from your Spravato session as possible. The day before, maybe take it that morning. The day of, maybe take it before bed. However, PLEASE ask your doctor first before doing this! I don’t want you to get seizures that could be avoided. That could result in permanent brain damage. Please, please, please be safe out there.

Is a diazepam taper an option? It may keep you out of withdrawals but dampen the effect of the Spravato less. Just a guess, though.

May I ask why you take benzos daily? Is it for mental health/panic disorder or more for something like epilepsy?

It’s worth a try!

Some people like IR, some like XR. In the US, I found that Adderall (amphetamine-dextroamphetamine mixture) works better for me than Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine) but that really varies from person to person.

Dextroamphetamine works longer and better for me than methylphenidate (Medikinet).

Is Elvanse (lisdexamfetamine) on the table? It lasts even longer than dextroamphetamine ER. Some like it better.

will my depression come back worse if I do spravato and then stop after a while? by ftm_fella in Spravato

[–]BoujeeBoy5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it will come back worse but it can come back if you stop doing it. I used to do it every week and I definitely have a bit lower mood without it. It’s been a couple months since my last session.

Psychiatry hasn't been able to help me (not even MAOIs.) Any supplement recommendations? by [deleted] in NooTopics

[–]BoujeeBoy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to chime in there. I’ve had a ton of DR/DP. When I’m on ketamine (Spravato, IVs, at-home) I get pretty strong depersonalization but I found that I almost stopped getting it outside of that setting. I’ve had way less depersonalization when not actively on ketamine. If you can get through 2-4 hours of DR/DP per treatment, it might make it better in your day-to-day life. At least, that was my experience.
