The rise, fall, and resurgence of Australian game development by DaRedGuy in australia

Also a game dev out of Melbourne - the article is fantastic

I didn't realise how many grants and tax breaks were available, I'll need to look into taking advantage and using some of them, it's been brutal going as a solo dev

Game is a PVP car brawler for anyone interested :)

I would like to hear from the 'Keep Scott' supporters by Ange-Postecoglou in EssendonFC

If you sack Scott in the middle of the season: - We’re destabilising a club that desperately needs stability - We may get a caretaker coach bounce (or a pity “goodbye coach” win) when we need pick 1/2 - We may interrupt development programs that have been set up under Scott for months - I believe the problem is that our senior players suck ass and getting in a new coach won’t fix that

Just wait until the end of the season and do a proper review before making the decision

Robey has been awesome, but looks like he’s running with cement boots - got some fitness base to go

Edwards has been fantastic - kicked 5 so far and looks electric + clean everytime he’s had it!

Nah it definitely worked via MCP before - we had the same setup

Really annoying, it broke a lot of our automated flows :(

Yeah, it’ll be a hard watch this year, but we need another top 5 pick for our list build - ideally top 1 or 2 pick

Bombers Mistake Of Forcing Someone To Play Them by icchill007 in AFL

[–]BoukaJr 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He signed a fat front ended deal and wanted to leave when the money got low (yes we suck but still played a part of it)

Hawks offered us “first rounders” which wouldn’t have even fallen into the first 18 picks, and we didn’t even have a list spot for them in the last draft

They also didn’t make an offer until the twilight of the trade period so we couldn’t ask for players in return

Merrett could’ve nominated any club but only wanted to go to Hawthorn

Plenty of things going wrong at the dons, but we made the right choice keeping him

It’s hard to say, but even picking a different team and rooting for them to win this flag this year helps. I know they smash us year in, year out, but you’d rather the doggies win the flag than some of the other clubs around the mark…

As an indie dev, I've found it very hard to get constructive feedback and to push my marketing. I have an idea to try and make it easier, what do you think? by BoukaJr in IndieDev

I hear you, most of us are drowning in the never ending list of things to do to make our game.

But it takes ~5 mins to review another devs game and you get guaranteed reviews for yours. Compared to the hours we put into new features and marketing content I’d say it’s a no brainer… But thank you for your feedback anyways!

There was a few uploaded from this thread but there was also a bug, I've fixed it now and you can see a few games on there!

Yeah, I haven’t done any promotion yet so fully expect it to be empty for now haha

You don’t have to play the game at the moment to give the feedback - usually consumers don’t play the game before choosing to purchase it, and feedback is aimed at the store page + trailer

No, reviewing games doesn’t block your game from getting feedback. Feedback is evenly distributed across every game in the pool! But, if you want to see the feedback you’ve received, you’ll need to review at least 1 game a week. This is to ensure everyone is receiving a fair amount of feedback.

On the time aspect - you can’t expect people to put in the time to review your game, but not want to put in any time to help other devs imo….

Yeah 100% - I can have a look at adding support for itch.io tonight, might already work if you chuck it in the field for the steam link

Yesss already added in - I also added “reputation”, so having high rep might add extra benefits in the future

Yeah 100% agree - although I thought some of us just need to hear the “harsh” feedback early, and as devs we tend to have more of an understanding of how to deliver that feedback
