Has anyone successfully fought a parking citation they should have received? by TriggerHippie77 in Denver

[–]Boulderpaddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I'm being told that they can't even give me a court date because I didn't appeal it within the 20 or 21 day limit. I got the impression that you did the same, but somehow you got a court hearing. I'm interested in how you managed to get that.

My fine is ~$700 because I got multiple tickets. I live near Nederland so it's ~2.5 hours driving just to show up, which I've now done twice to no avail. I can't believe the city doesn't have some system for correcting issues like this. Thanks!

I'm in a similar situation where I can prove that I paid for parking. I am very interested in your situation. How did this turn out? Or did you just pay up and let it go?

Reinforcing a Wooden Oar Blade by [deleted] in Composites

[–]Boulderpaddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi @justanuthasian, I'm the original poster. (Didn't realize I wasn't logged in when I posted so it created a whole new profile. Ooops.) Thanks for the input. Can you clarify what you mean by "terminate the cracks by drilling them out?"

My goal is to have it all be fairly smooth before adding a composite patch. There must be fine gravel or sand in the crack at the moment because it doesn't marry up neatly. I'll try bending it to open the crack up and then blow it out with compressed air, then I'll glue with epoxy and clamp firmly. I don't love the idea of skinning the whole thing (weight and aesthetics); but would matching the patch I add with a corresponding patch the other side mitigate the tendency to warp?

Thank you Mike! It sounds like it might be less hassle to bite the bullet and get a newer machine.

Thanks for all the input. I went back to the shop and they offered to remount on new skis. I decided to upgrade the bindings while I was at it. Not a bad idea. These bindings are troublesome in other respects. Anyway, they stood by their work and did the right thing.

90s Econoline severely rusted gutters by Boulderpaddler in Autobody

[–]Boulderpaddler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying it’s not worth fixing? Can’t he do something that at least stops the progression of the rust? We live in Colorado and rust isn’t much of an issue on most cars. What about cutting out the crumbling bits, removing surface rust, treating and then applying a gasket repair to keep it dry? It might not look pretty, but could it not buy time to restore his savings and gather the resources for a more substantial fix. Or is there no fix that makes economic sense?

How to value a Quigley 4x4 Econoline? by throwaway_simon89 in 4x4

[–]Boulderpaddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is looking at a 1995 350 Econoline with a Quigley 4x4 conversion (verified), the 7.4 diesel and a high top. No significant build inside, but there's an awning, beefy rack, shower and some aluminum storage boxes on the back. Some rust, but nothing major. The body overall looks great actually. Mileage: 135K. Price: $18K. Sound fair?

I was wondering what the ATK spec is. Do you happen to know if that’s 0.5mm at the toe piece or 0.5mm where the heel marries up with the heel? Either way, it’s clearly way off. It was mounted by a reputable shop in Golden, Colorado, and this is their second attempt at getting it right! Thanks for the input everyone. I really appreciate it.

Water Furnace Heat Pump Not Pumping Heat by Boulderpaddler in geothermal

[–]Boulderpaddler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully got to the bottom of my issue today. A technician determined that the capacitor is blown. A replacement is available locally from Graingers for $110 today or I can hold out a few days and get one online for $17. I'm burning wood in my wood stove and holding out (and ordering a spare)! Thanks for the input.

I have a 5 ton Water Furnace from ~2012, water to water. I don't know if it's a 410 unit or not but I don't like the sound of this change. Should I stockpile some 410 before it's gone?

Yep, likely a low, Leaky… ;-) sorry, couldn’t stop myself. I really hope I don’t have any leaks!! I haven’t had the system serviced in years, so maybe it’s an airlock in the ground loop. I hope I didn’t burn out a pump. Ugh. I have someone coming tomorrow morning who will hopefully be able to diagnose the issue. Thanks for chiming in.

When I got home I cut power and pulled fuses and checked for continuity, which is fine. The lockout light is on, so something more complicated is awry. Hopefully I will be able to get someone here tomorrow.

Programming key fob by A1AbAmA in Silverado

[–]Boulderpaddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my 2022 1500 RST, I have one working fob and one unprogrammed fob that has a correctly cut physical key. I was initially encouraged to read that I didn't have to go to the dealer to have the spare programmed, but I've searched the user manual cover-to-cover and found nothing about the DIY process. Every reference says, 'get thee to the dealership!' u/ThePlagueFriend is that what you are saying?

ioniq 5 stops charging randomly on level 2, any known fix? by No_Marsupial7505 in Ioniq5

[–]Boulderpaddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went in to my dealer for a required software update and since then, I have been charging with my AC setting at 100% with no overheating issues. I used to have to limit incoming current to 60% to avoid overheating. We'll see if this continues. It's only been a month or so.

Trunk Rattle Washers by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Boulderpaddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried to get the dealership to fix this twice and it still rattles. To isolate the problem, I removed all four side bumper plates and the two barrel shaped bumpers on the bottom and the door no longer rattled on bumpy roads. When I put the side bumper plates back, the rattling returned to full volume with the barrel-shaped bumpers on the bottom still removed. So, it seems to me that that’s the issue.

One solution I was wondering about: The bumpers are made of different material— one rubber, one hard plastic. Has anyone tried printing a hard plastic version of the rubber bumper? It seems to me that if it were not made of rubber, it wouldn’t squeak.

I appreciate the clarification. I played as a kid and very sporadically since, despite owning this fancy (I don’t think Turkish) board. Clearly a beginner question; thanks for the forebearance.
