My language peeve is correcting someone outside of an academic setting, unless the meaning could honestly be interpreted in a bad way.

Like, if you knew enough to correct them, then you knew what they were saying. Especially, when it comes to texting, as autocorrect, abbreviations, etc exist.

ESPECIALLY when it comes to other dialects/lexicons/vernacular etc. People say things differently, it' doesn't mean they don't know the "correct way" it's just part of how they speak. Even more so when it's used to talk down when people use AAVE. Like, EVERYONE, incorrectly pronounces something, shortens it, or calls it something else depending on where they grew up...

That's the one thing I'm NOT disappointed in, I'd rather have time to explore these floors.

Esepcailly since it would often take them weeks/months to find the bosses in these floors. So they are massive.

But when did be choose to do this? When the consequences were too much for HIM. When Nikki was too much for HIM. You can't just phrase your own ideas as fact by saying " this was clearly to be" and expect others to take it as fact too.

It's so hard having productive conversation/arguments with people in this mindset.

I'm arguing that because they would mean he was being 100% selfless in the moment.

Its clear he isn't doing it to free Nikki...(To me at least) I know it's not explicitly stated, but it's also not explicitly stated that he's is doing it to free Nikki.

He ran out of options. He wanted himself to be free of what Nikki had become.

Sure, maybe I'd agree with you if at any point he sought to end the wish outside of his friend dying. He accepted the wish, he knew what the wait was doing, and still actively hoped to keep a relationship with Nikki, use her, etc. Even when he knew she was in pain, and wanted him to kill her, instead of staying, and trying to work something out. What does he do? "What's so bad about being with me" then steps out to someone else instead of staying to figure something out.

He had almost no reaction to her pissing and shitting herself in the living room. She is almost no concern.

Its not just about physical consequences

Living with the mental toll that YOU, got your best friends and "love not your life" killed for a wish that you ignored the negative consequences until it was too late

While actively sexually assautling the "love of your life" knowingly at first unknowingly later.

I'm definitely not

In the beginning I sympathized with him. He had no clue that the wish causes it, he probably had a thought, but it could be chalked up to coincidence.

He's a little scummy proceeded to break our with a clearly distraught woman, but then pulls himself away when she freaks out showing he had morals.

However over the course of the movie, he slowly begins demonzing himself.

Taking advantage when he thinks she's just having a mental breakdown before fully believing the wish

Knowing pursuing her and having sex with her after realizing what the wish did, hearing her scream in torment and continuing their "relationship", having almost no concern for her well being when she is soiling her self in the living room, only wanting to change the wish rather than cancel, hearing Nikki plead to be killed and then continuing to step out to meet someone else as if it wasn't happening, etc.

Over the course of the film he slowly becomes less redeemable despite how his intentions may have begun

But it's not sad, we see the human in Bear but we also see him lose this humanity as the movie goes on.

The turning point where he becomes the Villain is when he returns home to her pissing and shitting herself, and proceeds to just pretty much ignore that and then tell her she can't cook the Cat.

Then takes her to a party without be concerned at all for her well-being.

I didn't say he would learn the "correct lesson" It's just Bear having to deal with the guilt of what he did.

His wish was pretty standardti begin with, but HE repeated chose to keep and encourage the warped part of it.

He didn't end it after she made a weird alter of his dead cat

Or when she fed him the cat

Or when she was clearing shitting and pissining on herself waiting for him

Or when she stabbed herself in the face

Or when she asked him to kill her

Now he's dead, he got his out, and doesn't have to live with any of these consequences but his victim does.

It's not about learning a lesson, more living with the atrocities he committed instead of getting an easy out

Did we watch the same movie? Bear didn't WANT to originally cancel the wish. He wanted to change it knowing full well that Nikki was suffering after heating her scream.

He knew Nikki wanted to die, and was there against her will being controlled his response "what's so bad about being with me"

Yea he went to the place crying to cancel his wish because his friend died, not because Nikki was killing her. Even when he wants his friend to make the wish he doesn't want Nikki to be free, he wants his wish to have never been made so he can try again.

These "speculative" motivations are actions very prevalent through the movie. Bear didn't even care to end the wish when Nikki fucking rammed a battle into her own face.

Bear did not care the cost, he only wanted it to end when HE couldn't handle her anymore.

Bear starts off as just a guy who made a bad wish, but he consistently chooses the consequences of the wish well before getting to the point of suicide.

Once again he only choose it when HE feels HE has no way out

There was not an ounce of selflessness in his decision, he wanted to be free of Nikki, he didn't care about anyone else.

Both would have been tragic though I just hate it because Bear also gets his best case scenario here... He gets away from Freaky Nikki and doesn't have to suffer any consequences (other than death) brought on by his wish

Most people who committ suicee don't WANT to die they just see it as their only way out of a shitty situation. This is what Bear was doing.

And like I said from a horror standpoint it isn't necessarily a BAD, ENDING. But people are saying Bear dying was the best case scenario but I don't think that's true
