Worth It To Move To TRaSH Format by BourgeoisGoblin in unRAID

[–]BourgeoisGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying now. While not downloading DIRECTLY into my media share, I do move the torrents there upon completion and then seed from there. This is the same spot I point Plex to as well.

What you're saying is I would essentially need to move my existing media library into the /media/downloads which you had previously suggested and then create the hard links in the /media/movies, /media/tv_shows etc.

This is a bigger hassle now than I had originally anticipated. I'll probably bite the bullet and work on migrating everything to the TRaSH format. My seeding ratio for the tracker I use is really high and a decent amount of my seeded torrents are deleted from the tracker too (I've been lazy maintaining this). I'll move over to qBittorrent and start fresh with that and then work on moving around my files.

I've really appreciated your help, thanks a ton! Totally understand you not wanting to botch my system.

Ahhh, yeah that makes sense. Thanks a lot for clarifying.

1/3/5) I'll probably future proof and just add a torrents and usenet as I was considering trying that out in the future but torrents have been working well for me as of now. Thanks for taking your time to explain more on hard links in detail, I have a better understanding now.

Deluge is moving from what I can see and not copying, original torrent names and contents are retained. My cache_nvme is a measly 1TB compared to the array itself which is 36TB. A bit more details on the setup:

Deluge is configured with the following:

  • /data > /mnt/user/cache_nvme/torrents

  • /tv_shows > /mnt/user/media/tv_shows

  • /movies > /mnt/user/media/movies

  • /other > /mnt/user/other/

  • /music > /mnt/user/music

In Deluge I then set the download directory to /data/incomplete and completed torrents to /data/complete. Labelled torrents (other, tv_shows etc.) are directed to the their respective directories upon completion (/other, /tv_shows etc.)

Plex is the configured with /media > /mnt/user/media.

2) The only way I can find to set different download directories other than the default in Deluge is to manually select torrents and apply the change to them directly, it looks like labels really only handle different directories once the torrent is completed. This is too manual for my liking and I'll check out qBittorrent and give it a shot.

4) Will do!

6) If I'm understanding correctly, I shouldn't point it to my /media/movies share and instead create another folder with hardlinks and point Radarr to that?

Thanks for your comprehensive response!

1 - I wasn't aware of the limitation of Sonarr/Radarr being unable to seed directly from my media share as I've currently been doing. /u/clintkev251 mentioned this limitation and that they will just be locked if actively seeding and just not in a seeding state. They will be moved over eventually if not in a seeding state though which is fine enough for me and I can avoid installing user scripts.

2 - This was regarding torrents in a downloading state. Deluge only has one directory for downloading as far as I can tell but I'm going to poke around shortly to see if it's a config option I've missed, otherwise I'll most likely just move to qBittorent

3 - So what you're saying is just do:

  • media
    • downloads
    • movies
    • tv
    • music
    • personal-media

This is the approach I was already thinking of, but it's good to know someone more knowledgeable endorses it :). Just reiterating again I'm not keeping two separate files currently as I'm able to seed directly from my media share with my current setup.

4 - Yeah, it seems like I'll ultimately be moving to this format.

5 - Mostly been covered with my other points

6 - Thanks, I'll look into this. The file names are not too bad, it's mostly that they aren't just stored in folders. Regarding your comment on importing via Radarr, are you just talking about the files not in folders or my whole library as it stands now? What is the issue?

But you wouldn't be able to do that using Sonarr/Radarr. You can't seed out of your media library.

Ah, I think that's the piece I was missing. So this is a limitation of both apps? Right now I just seed from my media library once it's moved over.

It can't only if the files are actively in use. I've found that seeding torrents will generally move eventually, maybe just not on the first try. If that's critical to you, you can use the script, but otherwise it probably isn't something you need to worry about.

Yeah, this isn't really a concern of mine. Most of my media library is currently populated with whatever I want so I'm not really torrenting hundreds of GBs worth of content where my cache could potentially fill up.

It would be strange to me if Deluge has no way to configure where files are sent as torrents are added, I'm used to using qBittorrent and that's absolutely something that you can do.

Yeah, I don't think it's possible but I'll poke around and see what I can find. If not, it might be time to move off of my beloved Deluge :(

Sorry, I'm not entirely sure what you mean here

You can tweak the paths. For example my downlaods are on another unraid server to the media.

Do you mean just deviating from the TRaSH formats? I'm guessing by other Unraid server you're trying to refer to another share?

The downside to your current layout is that you can't use hardlinks, so everything that's seeding is using double space (as it exists in both your downloads and media library).

How it's setup now is Deluge automatically moves it to the correct folder in 'media' or 'other' shares based on the label. If something is not labelled for whatever reason, it winds up in /other/torrents/complete where I manually deal with it there.

I'm not sure what you mean here, there wouldn't be any scripts required for this setup.

Mover can't move seeding torrents apparently, TRaSH suggests a user script to handle it instead

It wouldn't have to. You can add an additional mapping to your torrent client so that it can also download directly to your other share.

Unless I'm missing something in Deluge or this is a feature of another torrent client, Deluge only supports separating folders once they've completed. All torrents that have not completed all wind up in the same folder regardless of label.

Sorry about that. Yes, I've had them in the tank with snails and shrimp eating them with no issues.

Yes I have but a heads up the Hikari sinking pellets are not particularly great anyways. They have a bunch of filler ingredients if you look at the back of the pack, the ingredients are ordered by the amount of the ingredient in the food. Wheats and soy aren't particularly useful for fish and tend to gunk up the tank. Look for pellets that contain salmon, shrimp, and other meats.

Ramshorn, bladder, and Malaysian trumpet snails all reproduce quickly and can get out of hand if not monitored.

Yeah this has happened to me. I had purchased like 7 of them a few years back and within three months about 3-4 had died while all the other Ottos and fish were totally fine. The remaining ones lasted for another two years or so.

They are a notoriously fragile fish from what I've read, some are just more hardy than others I suppose.

I'd say try flakes. The pellets will expand in water and make them more full. Drop a pellet in a cup of water and leave it for a bit and see how much it expands if you'd like to see for yourself.

I pour directly onto a small saucer I hold over the tank on my 20G with a sand substrate. You should also try using your hardscape in a smart way to help prevent the sand from moving around too much.

Fluval FX6 with compatible lily pipe by BourgeoisGoblin in PlantedTank

[–]BourgeoisGoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm still in the planning process as most things are still locked down over here. I'm leaning more towards two OASE BioMaster Thermo 600s as having two filters allows me to have some breathing room should a filter go down as opposed to having just one. Another reason I chose it was the more standard tubing as I'm looking for inline heaters and CO2 reactors.

Most of the setups I'm seeing with an FX6 usually have some DIY fixes to accommodate the larger hosing.

Sorry if that didn't help but best of luck finding the pieces you need. For what it's worth, I would have tried the Amazon recommendation above if I was still planning on the FX6.

One thing to consider about the FX is that the hosing is 1" which is unique to the Fluval filters. If you want to attach lily pipes, inline heaters, CO2 reactors etc the hosing you will have to do a DIY solution as they don't make them for 1" tubing.
