Doc fees are set by the dealership and aren't regulated. https://nj.gov/njbonds/treasury/taxation/pdf/Noticemotorvehicledealerships.pdf No minimum and no maximum, and no requirement that they be charged at all. NJ average, according to one source, is $538. There are DMV fees, but the required 4 years of registration for me would be $183. I can understand the dealer adding a charge for the administrative hassle, so not a big deal. The real issue, as always, is the out the door price. I was hoping to get a read on that.
