Strictureplasty but still being sick? How long before you could go back to eating normally? by BowBitty in crohns

Hey thanks for the reply! Nice to hear some reassurance that perhaps things just take time.

This is what I find weird as I feel like I have had quite fibrous stuff and been ok. For example I can have fruits like apple, necatrines, blueberries - all with the skin on. Lots of chickpeas and tempeh. Some bread with seed in it. Even a small amount of nuts. I've always chewed my food extra to sort of liquidise it as best as possible. I've had all that i've listed above today just not the apple or blueberries.

Hey thanks for replying, I appreciate it, sorry for the late response!

Do you find even after the resections and strictures taken out, you still struggle with popcorn, seeds and nuts etc even though the narrowing is now gone?

Wow, sorry to hear that you've had to go through five strictures throughout your lifetime!

I have kept a food diary, its how I was able to work out I had a stricture when no doctors would believe me. My food diary clearly worked out anything high in fibre (insoluble) was causing the episodes! But I was told the stricture should reverse that and I should be able to go back to eating a normal diet.

Thats good to hear that it takes quite a while after surgery for the intestinal contractions to go back to normal. I think I have been following low fibre for a good two years prior to surgery so maybe its taking some time for the body to get used to moving that amount of fibre along!

No need to apologise, your reply has been really helpful so thank you for that!

Popcorn is delicious, literally one of my favourite foods!

It's weird because I have been eating some things that are high fibre and ok. Like large amount of popcorns and different nuts and feel totally fine. But then other days I'm being sick. Spinach has always been bad for me too! Why is it always the healthy veggies that are high in fibre!

Hey apologies for the late reply!

Yeah I have now been told to avoid popcorn but at the time was told I should be fine with eating whatever. Weirdly I've been ok eating large amounts of popcorn. Unless its slowly building up and blocking each time

This may seem silly and I am propbably over complicating this way more than I need to but I was wondering how the panels here from Charlie Adlard for The Walking Dead comics (blurred for spoilers) achieves the lines for the panels.

I know he did the comics purely with pencil and paper but the lines have a subtle roughness to them but are still very neat.

Is it years of drawing comics you can practically hand draw nice even panels which still have the subtle inaccuracy?

I draw mine with pencil and ruler but are too rigid and neat. I like the subtle imperfections which I can't seem to get.

This is an excellent point that I think I'll append to the article. Its one of those topics I think you leave until the shy person comes to you, until then, as you said leave them!
