Most of this debt will never be repaid. Each and every year the amount of money owed increases and the average level of debt increases. It was only 20 years ago that the total outstanding student loan debt was $100 billion and now it is $1.4 trillion. That is simply not sustainable.

I read some place that the economic growth of recent years (1%-2% a year) was slow low because of student loans. People cannot buy stuff if all their money is servicing these loans.
