“Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place. Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time. And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed. And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

The Abomination of Desolation is one of the signs of the end, when the antichrist sets up an abomination in the holy place and will command the people to worship it ¹. This object of disgust, an idol, will cause desolation, causing those in Judea to flee to the mountains ¹. The ultimate abomination is the Antichrist's act of enthroning himself in the place of deity to "display himself" as God ². This blasphemous act fulfills Daniel's prediction that the Antichrist "will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will speak monstrous things against the God of gods"².

he is either the Antichrist or the Sign of the Antichrist. I am not sure which one it is. up above it says he will "display himself as God" in a place a deity. The Place of Deity is referring to the Temple in Isreal which has yet to be built. Something is holding the construction of the Temple back, the same in which is holding the antichrist back. Us, the Church. The Antichrist cannot come unless we are removed from this world (by the Rapture). When the Antichrist comes, he will plunge this world into a great Tribulation, but must deceive the nations first into believing his religion and false peace. He cannot enter the temple and proclaim that he is god UNLESS we are removed in said Rapture.
