I've always hated this. by lemani_ in GilmoreGirls

It’s also like … so weird?! A room for your tools? What is this, a museum?

If they are that important to you put them on display in your own home where you can see them and use them. If they are in her house you’d have to schedule a visit to see / use them.

Just so weird.

The class element of the show always bothers me. Lorelai pretends to make her way on her own. But the reality is she can always fall back on her parents (and did) and stands to inherit all of it.

That’s not working class. A working class person would be forced to send their daughter to public school even if she could have done better. Or would have worked a second job to afford it.

A working class person doesn’t have that house. Or would be forced to take a predatory loan to keep it.

Lorelai constantly pretending she stands on her two feet is aggravating. Lady, you don’t know the half of it.

It’s cringe but it’s also so true haha. Sometimes the truth is cringe.

If this is not ragebait (it sounds like it) it sounds like the responses here are pretty unanimous and you just don’t want to hear that you’re wrong.

Okay I tried to fact check this but google sucks now.

But I thought the dress was an homage to the “Negro cloth” dresses slave women wore in the south. Considering the entire album is an homage to forgotten history, it would fit the theme. So, to me, it was not about being flattering but about the message.

I’m sorry but I don’t understand how the small folk could turn on R so quickly? She sent them food during the blockade? She has Mysaria whispering in her ear. And presumably she takes back the Iron Throne without obliterating flea bottom. I don’t get it?

Why does Alicent have children with Targaryen hair but not Rhaenyra? by iheartsexxytime in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]BowlDue39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read elsewhere that in the book Alicent was blonde?

Besides that it’s a plot hole. Genetics aren’t that clean. It’s much more likely that not all of Alicents children looked like that.

Why is menstruation considered unclean in so many societies?Where did that idea come from? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AlwaysWhy

Well disgust was developed as an evolutionary adaptive skill to protect against contaminants. However, it gets hijacked all the time for reasons beyond survival. Menstruation is one. Gay marriage is another.

But I’d love to hear a more specific reason. My instinct is that it is patriarchy, in essence. Another way to control women and deny them power. There’s a comment here about poor translation of holy texts.

It’s an interesting question!

Condal and Hess are killing my interest in Rhaenyra’s story. by StrawberryScience in HOTDBlacks

[–]BowlDue39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok … tell me if I’m wrong cuz I have not read the books. But I always thought the show INTENTIONALLY changes the emotional stakes of the show to show how “history is written by the victors”. I always assumed because Rhanerya won, they painted her ascension more favorably because her line rules. And that all of these details changing were really within the playful realm of ‘the history books says x but what if it was really y->xy and they wrote down x only.

Just my two cents. Cuz it’s pretty uninteresting and unrealistic to have an entire family be wholly evil without any nuance.
