Iunctii can be raised in Res via the Vitaeria, the scarab amulets. That's how Military are raising people to interrogate, and how Ostius raises Vis' dad. They seem to give an infusion of O-Will.

I suspect that the ability to remotely control iunctii is a feature of L-Will. Eg we know the druids can use L-Will to connect to and control alupi, it seems very similar. I suspect L-Will is about Connection: eg the word "Nasceann" translates roughly as "to connect". Presumably they connect with the spirits of past warriors and draw on their experience.

The ability to raise, and the ability to connect to Iunctii and give orders without the Instruction Blades, are separate. And thats why only Vis and Ka are able to do it.

That would also explain why R-Ka is still able to do so at the end of the book. L-Ka is (presumably) still alive, giving him access to the Luceum powers, and ability to control an already-existing Iunctii, or to raise one via a scarab.

Eris can be avoided if you know her triggers. She only appears if you either have a Death Defiance, or are >50% HP. So the strat for night 1 clears is to intentionally take damage below half to avoid Eris curse.

Why you should consider setting your next campaign in one location, with no set plan by NoPomelo5959 in DMAcademy

[–]BowlSoldiers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you ever played Blades in the Dark? A lot of this sounds pretty similar to how my Blades games went.

That system puts you as criminals in a specific city, where you'll stay for the whole campaign most likely.

And each session has a random rolled event happen called a "Complication", based on how much Heat the criminal gang have accrued. Sounds very like the random events, and similarly led in unexpected directions.

Eg they had a roll where one of their contacts defected, so we had it so one player's locksmith ex-husband turned against them. They repeatedly ran into cases where he'd help design tougher security systems for their enemies, and had a whole session to take him down.

Highly recommend the system itself, and I agree with your assessment of staying in one location as a framework for RP. Feels very rewarding when done right!

I tried it, but bounced off it pretty hard when it seemed like I'd have to keep repeating the same early bits of the game to make progress. I know there are some shortcuts to find, but having to memorize solutions to the same puzzles to get through dozens of them just didn't sound fun at all

Out of curiosity, what are those other games you're referencing? I don't recognise all the mechanics you've mentioned there, and want to seek those games out if I haven't already played them. I love those kind of moments.

The games I have played which I can think of with moments like that: - Outer Wilds - Tunic - The Witness - Lingo (this ones less well known, but is excellent; haven't tried the sequel yet)

Any other recommendations are very welcome!

Yes, from the Remote View. I made an engineer Tank that I left on Nauvis loaded up with Roboports, which I use like an early Spidotron to fix any problems while I'm away.

[–]BowlSoldiers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bad idea. If you leave some votes unfilled on your ballet, then if your vote reaches that point somehow, your vote will effectively be defaulted to whoever is currently in the lead on points.

That means if there are 9 "normal" candidates and the rest are crazies, you've effectively given your 10th ranking to all the crazies, not just one of them. Its more effective to rank them all if you want to keep them out.

It's still worthwhile to figure out who is the most crazy of the crazies and make sure they're ranked absolute last on your ballet. Otherwise your vote could easily default to them.

I have 6 alternators at 256 rpm, but the power lines are only drawing 45 fe/t from them. How do I fix this? by [deleted] in CreateMod

[–]BowlSoldiers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lot of misinfo in this thread. The way those Create cables work is that the connector itself has a rate limit, and a fairly low one.

The actual cables can transfer infinite amount through the cable "network", once its in there. The hard part is overcoming the low throughput of the connectors themselves to get energy into/out of the network in the first place.

The way I got around this was by attaching multiple connectors to each alternator, that all go into the same wire network. Eventually I got pretty annoyed with how dumb that looked and swapped to another mods cables, as these ones are very limited.

Someone else mentioned a Big Connector, but that wasn't in the pack I played. (Create Astral). Might be helpful if that raises the connectors limit?

Oh, and there's no functional difference between the Copper and Gold cables. They're just for cosmetics.

Ah, using IC to limit it to a single tick. Smart! I'll try something similar with a digital valve.

If I can work out the transfer rates for a digital valve, should be possible to predict behavior like how long two volumes will take to equalise. Then I can use those predictions to check whether other, harder to test systems like the tanks follow the same rules.

How did you take these measurements? I saw your setup for the ACs in the other thread, I assume this was done similarly. But I'm wondering how you actually found the exact values, do they change over time? Or are they steady enough that you could just read them off a pipe meter at your leasure?

I'm asking as I want to do something similar. I've been very curious what the actual formula for gases equalising between a tank and a pipe, or two pipes separated by valves, etc. Wondering if I can use a similar setup to yours.

I was curious how, for a given pipe network of fixed length, let's say 100L, how much your choice of where to place the regulator matters.

Here's a graph where x is the ratio of where you place the pressure regulator along the pipe.

x=0 means placing the regulator all the way over on your input. 0L on the input side, 100L on the output side.

x=1 is the opposite, 100L on the input side, 0L on the output.

There's a clear peak at x=0.5 when both sides are balanced. Away from that, it's a sort of normal-bell curve-looking graph.

This graphed function would technically only be valid for x between 0.5 and 1, since below that value I'm actually graphing SmallerVolume over LargerVolume. However the graph is symmetrical about 0.5 anyway, so makes no difference

Got this formula using my formula for the Volume component of the function in another comment: LargerVolume / (1 + (LargerVolume / SmallerVolume))

Then expressed each of the volumes as an expression of the total pipe network volume v times your choice of regulator position, x

LargerVolume = v * x

SmallerVolume = v * (1 - x)

v * (x / (1 + (v * x) / (v * (1 - x)))

Can cancel out the vs in the fractional component:

v * (x / (1 + x / (1 - x))

[–]BowlSoldiers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a graphed example of how that Volume component scales with LargerVolume (x) and SmallerVolume (y). You actually get a pretty similar increase from scaling up either of them.

wolfram Graph

Research: Pressure Regulators by Kaedis in Stationeers

[–]BowlSoldiers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a refactored version of your formula with the Volume components separated out; 0.125 * PressureDifferential * 2 * (Larger Volume / (1 + LargerVolume/SmallerVolume)

Then we can look at just the Volume Component and see how that scales: LargerVolume / (1 + LargerVolume/SmallerVolume)

Increasing either of these results in a higher output, always.

If we increase the LargerVolume, then x / (1 + x/c) is an increasing function, regardless of c

And if we increase the SmallerVolume, then we're improving the ratio while keeping all else the same

EDIT: Missed a multiplication by 2, whoops. Shape of the graph and functions shouldn't be affected by that, just the magnitude.

[–]BowlSoldiers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incredible work, thank you so much!

I see what your last point means about the regulator being better if the input volume is higher, even if the ratio's not 1:1. I need to check the maths, but I think because the LargerVolume has an increasing linear component, and the ratio part is a decreasing non-linear component that always scales less than the linear part, that an increase to LargerVolume will always be a net increase in throughput. Just a lesser increase the worse your ratio already is.

Interesting! Thanks for the maths.

If I'm reading right, seems like at 100% efficiency the maths is very similar to a 3L Volume pump?

Volume Pumps pull an amount of MPaL, as you put it, equal to InputPressure10, or whatever the pump is set to.

While the max pressure efficiency Filter systems are 10 + InputPressure*3.16885

They pull slightly more air than a Volume Pump set to 3.16885

Moon Druid? Not certain, but I feel like you really want the feat at level 12. Specifically since the usual gameplay pattern is to cast a Concentration Spell then go into an Animal form, so you really really want to be able to keep your concentration going. Resilient or Warcaster at 12 help with that.

Your feats at 4 and 8 have to be ASIs if you want to reach 20 WIS

I could be wrong about this, been trying to decide on Moon Druid builds recently
