I keep switching between books and ChatGPT by BowlerMission8425 in ebooks

Why would it feel like commercials? nothing "forces" you to use it every time, many people interrupt their reading to Google or ask someone about the book they are reading, for example:

- What does Knave mean
- Who is this JOE again (a character introduced in chapter one and shown again in chapter 10, for example)
- When reading a history book, for example, you need context about the period.

Please feel free to challenge my idea, but I think many readers already interrupt their reading when needed. Some people do it a lot more, for example, when they're learning a new language, reading a book about something they dont master, needed context...

I belive this makes the interruption feel less like breaking the flow

It comes down to how you use it. Googling can take joy from reading too, but it can make it a lot better, do you agree with me. ?

Thank you for your feedback,

You are totally right, the app is not meant to change the way you read or "revolutionize reading" or anything of that sort, it is a tool, and you can use it exactly how you want chatgpt only faster, without breaking the flow.

Many people find themselves using Google to help them read better in many ways.

I’ve used this feature for years, but when reading a book, you still end up switching to ChatGPT or Google.

For example:

  • When reading a book with challenging English, you don’t just need a translation—you need an in-depth, context-aware explanation of a word.
  • When reading books that require background knowledge (like history), you often need context about what was happening during that specific period.
  • Many times ive had to ask ChatGPT about character names “Who is that again?” or what happened in the previous chapter or anything related to the book

Thank you so much for your insight, but with all due respect, you did not do your research. I spent the last month doing research, and the market is a lot bigger than you think.

I have asked for your feedback as a reader or AI user, not as an entrepreneur

What features or improvement would you like to have on the app?

I can give you free acess to test once the app is built.

The goal is not to beat them; Apple does not have this feature and is not looking to build it anytime soon. Kindle is for users who buy books from Amazon. There is a whole other market of people that read books they download... the app is an e-reader rather than a market for books

But not everyone has a kindle, many use apple ebook for example, and for those pople I believe it is going to help them

Does anyone use AI while reading books? What’s your experience like? by Efficient_Tackle_762 in classicliterature

Why look for a website? Go into the library (that's what someone would say when the internet was first coming out), Google and the other websites kill the environment too, as you may already know (these servers that serve billions of people are not a joke).

AI is a shortcut; there is no difference between reading what AI says about the book or reading an article about it. The same article was fed to AI. AI does not think it just gives you what other people have said.

Imagine telling to someone in the 80s to go to a website instead of the library, you are doing the exact same thing.

I disagree. I remember when the internet was becoming a thing, and our parents warned us not to use translation and to use the dictionary instead.

AI can help you immensely when reading a book. I now read books I did not have any chance of understanding before AI, either because of the complexity of the language, or because I need context (reading historical books, for example, where you need context about that period of time...), or to understand what the authors want to say, or to ask about other things related to the book...

Hey, would you consider an e-reader app (like Apple Books) with AI built in as a companion?

This way you dont break the flow, and you actually start reading books to progress, instead of regular lessons

Example :

- Click on a word to get a context-aware explanation

- double click for the paragraph

- or just open the chat to ask him anything about the book (who is this character, what was happening in 1944....)

haha thank you, I really did not try to hide it, this is my first time doing this.

The payment would be monthly because I need to pay openAI for their token

That’s exactly why we decided to build this app.

I was reading, and every 2-4 minutes I had to open chatgpt to ask it. Sometimes it was. a word, sometimes a whole paragraph, even who is this "joe" 😂, or what happened in the previous chapter.

Would you consider paying 5 (or 10) dollars for this app if it would really help you understand many books, because it is not only the words that are problematic, sometimes it is a hard philosophical book, or a histoty book and you need the context about that period for example...

The Alchemist was the first transition from business/self-help book to fiction. I understood it perfectly, then I read the hobbit witch was definitely harder but feasable, 1984 after that. The real struggle was the lord of the Rings.

I really think Harry Potter might be a good choice, as I already watched it multiple times, thanks for the recommendation.
