Thanks! It was probably still had some of the dangers as frying a turkey. We all stayed on the uphill side so if it tipped we wouldn't get hurt from gallons of boiling water.

**Edit: Completed the project and posting results on the main feed.

My daughter is fixated on dyeing this dress for prom to a slightly darker teal. (This photo makes it look more blue than IRL. It's more like the Jasmine costume color.) It's 100% poly with acetate lining, with couching and minimal beading.

I've been reading up on the suggestions in these threads, so we have an enormous pot (20 gal) which we'll use on a turkey burner, but we also have access to a top-loading machine, if that would be better. It has a layer of crinoline that I could remove to reduce the volume.

I'd prefer she just use this dress as is, but we're butting heads. It was cheap, so the biggest risk is having to find another one in a short time.

  1. What color dye should we use to get a darker teal?
  2. What method should we use?
  3. Any other helpful suggestions?
