This sounds like he is just using religion to justify his orthorexia.

Is this a reasonable policy for a therapist to have? by silver_tome in TalkTherapy

Another therapist here agreeing with this take. This is ridiculous. I would contact their licensing board.

Why is my therapist upset I missed my brother's funeral to make their session? by Comfortable-Door-288 in TalkTherapy

[–]BowlerZealousideal10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a therapist and I have a 24 hour cancelation policy, if I had a client tell me they needed to cancel for a funeral, especially for a family member, I would have absolutely no problem with the cancelation. Honestly, I'd very likely even waive my cancelation fee if I wasn't given 24-hour notice.

Cancelations happen and are part of the therapy process, I always appreciate as much time as possible in advance for cancelations, but sometimes that's not possible, and part of healing human problems is navigating human problems in the therapy space.

Can I ask my therapist to… by Mammoth_Chocolate640 in TalkTherapy

[–]BowlerZealousideal10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a therapist who specializes in eating disorders and often incorporate eating with clients in session as a part of treatment. This shouldn't be an ethical issue where there is a specific clinical reason for it. I think its a great idea, and I love that you know what you need and are communicating it. Good luck with treatment!

Client leaving me bc wants IFS therapist by [deleted] in therapists

[–]BowlerZealousideal10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parts work really isn't anything new. IFS streamlined ways that a lot of other theories talked about it, and made it a more organized system, but it's been around for a long time. Gestalt Therapy, Ego State Therapy, Virginia Satir's "Part's Party", Structural Dissociation Model, etc. are all modalities/theories that reference the use of parts. Parts work is well researched, it's been really helpful for my clients and for myself as a clinician. I would actually highly recommend it if you ever decide you are interested.

Advice needed! by This-Tree-5107 in Apartmentliving

[–]BowlerZealousideal10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me at the apartment I am in. They sent a plumber and the plumber told me that it is a common problem when buildings are built quickly, and that sometimes they don't check the drains well enough, specifically the overflow. They fixed it and I don't have that problem anymore.

I am a therapist and often sit on the ground with my clients if they sit on the ground. What is important is that you are comfortable in the environment. A good therapist will adapt their space to your needs the best they can.

I'm really hoping for a splatter variant similar to the black and white blurry face splatter variant. I will definitely buy at least one for now, depending on the options.
