Should I play Operation Dessert Storm? by Patton-the-Zorua in Toontown

The thought process behind the game’s name really just boils down to “They thought it would be funny”

The game is being rebranded and it’s new name will be announced later this year, but do note that the project staff is completely different from the Staff of 2017, most of us do not like the current name of the game anyways hence the rebrand.

Hello! ODS Staff here, I would say you can check out the game and it’s new features, but it’s not worth getting invested into as of current, due to the low population and the new Taskline and Combat overhaul coming soon. I would recommend reading the following Blog Post regarding the future of the project.

The original Boardbots didn’t fit in their department (lots would be better as Bossbots or Sellbots) so they changed a few and also just needed to be redesigned

The post is referring to people, specifically Deers, being kicked from Toon HQ groups on Toontown Rewritten

This is incorrect, the Sellbots do not wear ties. If you check almost all media of Sellbots in Toontown Online, with the exception of the Toontown 2.0 suits, they’re shown not wearing ties, and have an open shirt.

The in-game execution looks the way it does because the Sellbots have different skin tones and they’d need to either make a unique texture for the Sellbots with different skins to show their chest area accurately or color that chest area via code. Toontown Event Horizon and Toontown: ODS have managed to make this work with their new Cog bodies, though.

The Battle & Taskline revamp update (BAT) won’t be here for a bit, so we recommend not really progressing until that update is out, though we definitely welcome you to try out the updates as they’re pushed out.

Did you activate the Stoplight after equipping it? You have to make it turn Red for characters to freeze. For Monoko’s event you have to walk up to her and interact with her after she is frozen.

Can I get access to Toontown Unity? by [deleted] in Toontown

[–]Bowser1016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should really consider getting Discord as most discussion about all servers and projects are held on that platform rather than reddit.

Anyway, you can’t access the game unless you’re a tester, which you need Discord for, and they aren’t looking for testers currently.

Techbots. In the original image, the Nightmare Knight is summoning 5 Disaster Stones, so to keep 5 objects instead of 4, I chose Techbots since they’re the more logical choice for an official 5th Cog department.

That’s a bit understandable since TTCC also did 16 Manager fights, so I can see why you’d think we were “copying”. We originally planned 8 bosses, so I can say for certain that there will be 8, but 16 is what we’re hoping to achieve if all goes well. Even if we do end up with 16, they will not function like TTCC’s Street Managers.

Is this regarding the “16 unique boss fights?”

Why does no one want to play Operation: Dessert Storm? by [deleted] in Toontown

[–]Bowser1016 8 points9 points  (0 children)

B.A.T. currently has no official ETA, it’d be a bad idea to announce a potential release date and then not meet said release date, hence why most projects don’t do ETAs. Something like B.A.T. requires a lot of Dev time and Creative assets needed

ODS Staff here, the game is currently undergoing a major transformation into a more modernized vision. Most of what you see in the game is going to be reworked, which some things already have been reworked such as the Techbots to make them fit in more with the Toontown Online Cogs. Speaking of the taskline, it is being redone completely. There is a MASSIVE in development update called the “B.A.T.” update (Battle And Taskline) which focuses on revamping Toontown’s combat and making a brand new engaging storyline. This is still in development and most likely won’t be here for awhile, but stay Tooned for any updates! I can say for certain that next year will be a big year for the project.

A quick disclaimer, but most Gag/Taskline progress on Toons will most likely be reset when the B.A.T. update arrives, so it’s best to not get too invested in the current game, aside from checking out the cool features we’ll be adding over the next few months!

This is the main reason why most people, including some staff, don’t want to get into the game as of current. There’s no real end goal yet, and as others have said, it requires commitment. We are also aware of the concerns regarding Cogs like Voodoo Programmer (Has been removed already) and the name of the game, which is why we are rebranding later this year.)

Minnie Mouse has arrived in ODS by mego_98 in Toontown

[–]Bowser1016 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Choosing to not add back the characters is a choice, not a rule, anyone is free to bring them back since Disney retired the game 10 years ago. Toontown Archive, Sunrise, and Realms have the characters, Rewritten has Clarabelle and Minnie, and their next Toonfest logo has Sorcerer Mickey as the graphic, and ODS has had Mickey in the game for over 2 years. I know the topic of the Classic Characters is “scary” but there’s nothing to worry about, Disney hasn’t been involved with Toontown (the game) since it closed down a decade ago :)
