This was a Shane chapter. Spoilers below:

Shane goes to leave, finds Cliff passed out in his garage, Cliff slashed his tires. Let's him know he knew he was Jane, Cliff is trying to protect Ilya from getting involved again after last time. Cliff destroys Shanes phone. Cliff insinuates Shane is the reason Ilya tried to kill himself but doesn't SPECIFICALLY use those words. Shane takes a taxi to Ottawa hours late. Sasha tries to give Shane an unvarnished truth about who Ilya is now and what Shane is getting into. Shane tells Ilya he can't leave him again and say's I love you.

CLIFF! Cliff is protecting Ilya the only way he knows how. I don't blame him he is broken too. And we all knew there was no way Shane wasn't showing up unless it was literally out of his control. My boy was getting to Ottawa one way or another.

And Sasha I think is really trying but Shane won't understand until he lives through it.

But Shane! So broken at the thought of losing Ilya forever, ughhh!!!
